The Role
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Insurance Compliance Manager to oversee Wyndham Hotels and Resorts, Inc.'s insurance compliance operations within our legal department. This position is responsible for acquiring and maintaining insurance records for global franchised and managed properties. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with internal team members, external brokers, and third-party vendors to ensure franchise agreement and brand standards are met while mitigating risk across the organization. This role will also involve driving IT system changes, managing a team of three (3), and ensuring that compliance procedures are followed to reduce exposure to legal and financial risks.
What you'll do
Responsible for acquiring and maintaining WHR's insurance compliance process in its entirety for our global franchised and managed properties.
- Manage, train, coach a team of three individuals, and answer day-to-day inquires.
- Lead the development, implementation, and maintenance of certificates of insurance and procedures to ensure compliance with agreements and brand standards.
- Conduct regular audits and review of insurance certificates and practices to identify and resolve any compliance gaps or risks. Responsible for analyzing key insurance details to support informed decision-making by individual or leadership, as needed.
- Prepare and maintain accurate reports and records for compliance tracking and reporting purposes.
- Supervise the timely execution of mass mailings to brokers and franchisees, ensuring effective communication of insurance certificate renewal or deficiency notifications.
- Oversee and ensure the accuracy and timeliness of all insurance correspondence.
- Responsible for handling adverse communications, verbal or written, that may occur as a result of compliance action.
Responsible for ensuring that insurance requirements are met for all global hotel openings and retention (renewals and transfers of franchise agreements) transactions.
- Provide guidance to relevant departments on insurance-related issues to support informed decision-making.
- Collaborate with internal teams to ensure timely and accurate submission of insurance-related documentation.
- Facilitate and communicate with both external and internal stakeholders when certificate modifications are required.
Monitor global properties with inadequate coverage and determine when escalation to default status, as necessary. Escalate internal system issues to management and assist in resolving any related matters.
Partner with internal teams (such as legal and risk management departments) and external brokers to ensure compliance requirements are fully understood and executed. Take action to encourage compliance by:
- Investigating/analyzing insurance issues/matters
- Corresponding/collaborating with internal and external stakeholders.
Collaborate with IT teams to implement system changes that enhance compliance processes, improve data accuracy, and establish effective reporting mechanisms.
Foster strong partnerships with operations, legal, risk management, and development teams to define metrics and conduct analyses that support the improvement of insurance compliance processes.
- Create, update, and implement compliance strategies and policies related to contractual and insurance brand standards obligations, as needed.

Required Qualifications/Experience - College degree (BA, BS).
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in insurance compliance or a related field, with at least 2 years in a managerial role.
- Experience working with Sales on tight deadlines, particularly at the end of quarter. Will require working outside of normal business hours to meet project deadlines or address urgent matters.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and risk management skills.
- Experience in reviewing and interpreting contractual terms.
- Strong computer skills including MS Office, specifically Excel.
