Job Description For General Manager
Additional Information: This hotel is owned and operated by an independent franchisee, Onvo. The franchisee is a separate company and a separate employer from Marriott International, Inc. The franchisee solely controls all aspects of the hotel's employment policies and practices, including hiring, firing, discipline, staffing, compensation, benefits, and all other terms and conditions of employment. If you accept a position at this hotel, you will be employed by a franchisee and not by Marriott International, Inc.
Marriott HR Franchise Solutions is looking for General Managers in and around Pottsville, PA to lead an up-and-coming select service property in the area.
What will you do:
Responsible for the overall management of the property to include but not limited to: profitability, guest service, product quality, risk management, and overall cleanliness and maintenance of the hotel property.
Essential Functions:
- Effectively lead hotel staff utilizing a participative style - this means effective communications, timely coordination, problem solving and follow-up.
- Enter invoices, coding correctly and updating daily report in M3 accounting.
- Develop a detailed annual operating budget. Assure achievement of annual budget in revenues and profits.
- Conduct monthly forecasts and compare to budget in order to adjust expenses where needed.
- Develop a method for the weekly planning of operation, staffing and cost expenditures that are in line with forecasted sales and costs.
- Complete linen inventories in order to maintain set PAR levels.
- Review Maintenance procedures and check to ensure all required paperwork is completed as well as duties performed.
- Conduct bank deposits in a timely manner.
- Maintain and fill ATM, ensure it always has funds available and not out of service.
- Develop and implement corrective actions for Profit and Loss Statement Critique. Immediate follow-up to ensure effectiveness of corrective actions.
- Review labor reports and direct corrective actions to ensure adherences to budget at all times.
- Conduct annual employee reviews to critique performance.
- Responsible for analysing future booking of room nights and meeting room sales. Identify weak periods ahead of time and develop corrective actions; follow-up to ensure successful implementation of corrective actions.
- Monitor guest reviews both from the Brand and online to follow up and correct any issues.
- Review pricing and rate structures. This includes both the cost of increases and competitive pricing in room rates. Ensure recommendations and implementation of price increases on a timely basis as warranted.
- Through leading by example, establish a friendly, service-oriented approach to guests that is exhibited by all hotel departments.
- Ensure that training is an ongoing function at the hotel and includes new associates as well as existing associates. Training that is both required by the Brand and Management Company.
- Ensure employees are engaged and following the company and Brand operating procedures.
- Perform other duties as may be required by the Regional Manager and/ or Corporate office.
About you:Experience - As an ideal candidate, You will have:
- Four Year College Degree is preferred
- Minimum of 7 years hotel related work experience in a leadership role.
- Certification preferred: Senior manager and/or other certification as required by franchise.
- Previous Department managerial experience required
- Strong financial knowledge and computer skills, to include Excel, required.
- Hotel Brand Management helpful.
- Valid driver's license from appropriate state.
