The Director, Talent Development - Program Management Consulting will ensure effective project management of strategic initiatives that are high profile, enterprise-level priorities supporting business and technology transformational initiatives. In particular, the Director will be responsible for managing the planning and execution of TD initiative workstreams related to Marriott's Digital and Technology Transformation (DTT). They will focus on developing a project plan from inception to completion, ensuring data integrity including tracking, analysis and reporting, optimizing processes, driving adoption and compliance, and partnering closely with TD, broader HR COEs, and multi-disciplinary business and technology stakeholders to deliver on milestones successfully. The real power to project management will come from identifying and developing strategic insights and leveraging effective communication to ensure the initiative achieves its goals and meets our quality standards. Success in this role requires strong critical thinking skills, attention to detail, comfort with ambiguity, a proven ability to manage multiple work efforts at the same time, as well as a willingness to be tested on complex and time-sensitive requests
CANDIDATE PROFILE
Education and Experience Required
• 4-year degree or equivalent from an accredited university in Business Administration, Hospitality Management, Human Resources, Technology or related majoror equivalent experience is required.
• Minimum 8 years of professional experience in hotel, consulting, or business analytics, demonstrating progressive career growth and a pattern of exceptional performance.
• At least 5 years of experience in a program and project management capacity with exposure to waterfall, agile, or both project approaches.
Preferred
• Hospitality/Lodging or Service industry experience
• Scrum Master, PMP or similar project management certification desired
• Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
CORE WORK ACTIVITIES
• On behalf of the Talent Development organization and in support of the Digital and Tech Transformation initiative, drive continuity with the program's centralized project management structure, ensure project-related governance processes are maintained and facilitate the sharing of resources, methodologies, tools, and techniques across the TD organization.
• Serves as the Learning PM lead for PI planning, identify options for continuous improvement and mitigation strategies, and review overall TD project progress, status reports, risks, dependencies.
• Partner across the TD COE and BTO PMO to provide strategic planning and management of CSFs, critical milestones, etc.
• Through collaborative relationships and partnership with a range of internal and external stakeholders, develop and recommend options for decision-making that advances the program that balance the needs of the various stakeholder groups and promotes the long-term viability of the program.
• For assigned aspects of the program, develop and manage a detailed project schedule and work plan. Coordinate, track, update and maintain consistent data integrity across various modes of project management tools and reports for internal and external requests.
• Develop and consolidate project status reports that highlight key milestone achievements, deliverable progress, risks, mitigation strategies, etc. across multiple forums (e.g., TD team meetings, HQ center, enterprise-wide requests, etc.).
• Maintain and update issue log, change control process/log, critical success factors (CSF), etc. and proactively escalate concerns to leadership.
• Monitor project performance and recommend options to eliminate blockers and potential risks (e.g., dependency delays, capacity issues, scope creep).
• Ensure work products and deliverables are reviewed and approved by leadership in a timely manner.
• Attend TD, HQ center, and enterprise-wide project meetings, summarize meeting notes and action items in OneNote, and follow-up with stakeholders accordingly on action items to keep the team on target.
• Anticipate and identify business opportunities and challenges (e.g., via feedback loop process with stakeholder engagement), and respond with actionable recommendations that optimize performance and align with overall business direction.
• Analyze and prepare pre-, mid-, and post-project planning materials to support facilitation of short- and long-term planning sessions within TD, HQ center, and across enterprise.
• Provide recurring and ad-hoc consolidated project views and surface key insights for executive decision making across key forums.
• Support developing leadership and stakeholder presentations and schedule meetings for project socialization.
• Support other duties as assigned.
The pay range for this position is $56.58 to $70.96 per hour.
Washington Applicants Only: Employees will accrue 0.0334 PTO balance for every hour worked and eligible to receive minimum of 9 holidays annually.
