Job Description For FLEX Director, Platform Operations Program Readiness

The FLEX Director, Platform Operations - Program Readiness is part of the Global Operations (GO) department and will support the planning and implementation of Hotel Operations experiences for the Digital and Technology Transformation (D+TT) program. The FLEX Director will help build upon Marriott's existing expertise and create the structures and capabilities we need to coordinate the moving parts that make up D+TT. This role will partner closely with the leads in Hotel Operations, Commerce, Digital, Loyalty, Change Management, Communications, Deployment, Learning, and external consulting leaders throughout the project. Success in this role requires strong critical thinking skills, attention to detail, comfort with ambiguity, a proven ability to manage multiple work efforts at the same time, as well as a willingness to be tested on difficult and time-sensitive requests.
The core work activities of the role are to support senior leadership in managing key interdependencies across various workstreams and collaborate with cross-functional teams to meet project goals on time and on budget. The candidate will engage internal partners for content preparation and deployment, deliver presentations on strategic roadmap development, and create standard templates to optimize program effectiveness. They will ensure balanced decision-making that promotes long-term business viability, lead initiatives to drive organizational change, and coordinate with third-party vendors to ensure high-quality deliverables. The role also includes designing forums to engage senior leaders and incorporating relevant perspectives into decision-making processes.
CANDIDATE PROFILE
Education and Experience
Required
- 4-year bachelor's degree from an accredited university in a related field appropriate to work of position; or 8+ years of hotel experience or other relevant experiences using property management systems or related work experience
- Experience with operations and technology initiatives, as well as with processes needed to support delivery and ongoing support strong oral and written communication skills; excellent interpersonal and leadership skills; able to collaborate effectively with others in a cross-functional team and solid ability to manage multiple stakeholders
Preferred
- Property Experience desired
- Experience working with external service providers (example: Accenture Hospitality Services)
CORE WORK ACTIVITIES Project and Strategy Leadership - Support the Sr. Director, Platform Operations, Global Operations and Senior Director, Business Transformation Office - Strategy & Program Management to manage key connection points and interdependencies across D+TT workstreams including Commerce, Hotel Operations, Loyalty, Change Management, Learning, Finance and Technical Architecture.
- Collaborate with cross-functional working teams to:
- Meet project goals on time and on budget
- Help manage transformation projects in line with overall program objectives
- Guide on-going business analysis support to leadership to support strategic decision-making using the appropriate approaches, systems, and resources
- Engage internal partners to prepare content as needed for communications and deployment
- Deliver presentations related to the strategic roadmap development, project execution and management to senior management and other key stakeholders (e.g., owners, associates, customers)
- Create standard templates to optimize effectiveness of program, including decks, webinars, RAID logs, tasks lists, status reports, and escalation flows
- Ensure decision-making that balances the needs of the various stakeholder groups and promotes the long-term viability of the business
- Leads initiatives on behalf of the Global Operations leaders and their teams to drive change across the organization. Accountable for delivering the results of the project. Acts as a project leader and day-to-day project decision-maker with the following responsibilities:
- Establish key milestones and approval roles. Ensure appropriate sponsorship and resourcing and timely delivery against milestones, participating in review cycles at key milestones and providing go/no-go decision.
- Actively participate in strategy sessions.
- Identify emerging business opportunities and risks to determine strategic implications, provide feedback to key stakeholders and take a leadership role in the decision-making process. Coordinate contributions into central program deliverables, e.g. Integrated Project Plans, Risk Management and Contingency Plans, etc.
- Coordinate and partner with third-party vendors to ensure milestones are met, deliverables are of high quality, and program remains on budget.
- Design and facilitate program-specific and cross-discipline forums and processes to engage senior leaders and gain buy-in on critical business decisions.
- Coordinate with various stakeholders to ensure relevant perspectives are incorporated into other D+TT workstreams' decision-making.
The pay range for this position is $56.58 to $76.59 per hour.
