Job Description For FLEX Director Event Technology, Meetings and Events, US and Canada
The Director, Event Technology, Meetings + Events - US & Canada, is the subject matter expert for strategies related to identifying, creating, and implementing new ways to deliver meeting and event (M+E) technologies to maximize revenue and enhance the attendee experience and drive planner satisfaction within the US + Canada Continent Lodging Services organization. M+E technology includes the integration of meeting room, personal device, property technology and audio-visual capabilities. The Director will also own the relationship with the preferred (MSA) Audio Visual (A/V) vendor and ensure compliance and deliverables to MSA terms and conditions; be the champion for training and oversee the technology relationship with the US & Canada sales and event teams as a subject matter expert to improve sales closure and A/V commissions. The Director will have expertise in managing larger business processes and/or projects, setting priorities and measurable objectives, monitoring and reporting progress and results; and serve as the liaison to applicable technology and/or design partners in disciplines within the US & Canada, Global Design, and Information Technology to drive performance, and measure success and effectiveness of M+E technology.
CANDIDATE PROFILE
Education and Experience
Required
• 4-year bachelor's degree from an accredited university in Business Administration, Information Resources, or related professional area OR equivalent experience in Operations or related professional area
• 8+ years of business management/sales leadership experience in the hotel event technology (audio/visual) field
Preferred
- Expertise in one of the following areas: managing multi-brand platforms, client support, vendor management, account management skills or project management skills
- Contract negotiation and management experience
CORE WORK ACTIVITIES - Develop short and long-term revenue growth strategies for Audio Visual (A/V) revenue and commissions.
- Drive property participation in third-party master service agreements and assist sales teams with closing strategic account business.
- Develop training for property and above property Event Technology sales teams.
- Drive Event Planner and group guest satisfaction, Monitor Event Satisfaction Survey (ESS) and third-party planner satisfaction data and establish plans to improve satisfaction scores and celebrate successes.
- Partner with sales/event management organizations to ensure product and service offerings meet current group needs
- Collaborate with Global Design Strategies on Meeting + Events technology solutions.
- Benchmark other business to identify effective technologies, processes, design innovations and trends and represent the company at industry events to promote trends and technology.
- Establish strategy for Meeting and Event technology platform; Identify and prioritize platform upgrades and provide guidance on capital and operating budget.
- Identify business development opportunities, make recommendations, and maintain stakeholder/vendor relationships.
- Leverage data to optimize performance and create measurable success metrics.
- Facilitate decision-making for technology strategies and gain stakeholder alignment.
- Maintain companywide standards (Operations, Brand) on Marriott Global Source (MGS) and other required portals
- Facilitate balanced decision-making in establishing policies and governance related to current and new technology strategies; gain alignment with property, continent, owner, brand, franchise stakeholders.
- Consult and partner with Performance Accountability team to define and monitor Brand Standards as identified.
- Travel required up to 20% of the time.
The pay range for this position is $56.58 to $83.27 per hour.
Washington Applicants Only: Employees will accrue 0.0334 PTO balance for every hour worked and eligible to receive minimum of 9 holidays annually.
