THE ROLE:
Executive housekeeper direct and control housekeeping operations and staff of the housekeeping department. An executive housekeeper, co-ordinates between housekeeping crews to inspect assigned areas to ensure standards are met. An executive housekeeper manages many priorities and demands and is able to solve problems, support staff, as well as perform the duties of a housekeeper when required.
ACTIVITIES:
The duties and responsibilities for the executive housekeeper include, but are not limited to the following:
• Create 100% guest satisfaction by providing genuine hospitality and by exceeding guest expectations.
• Ensures cleanliness, maintenance and presentation standards are managed to brand standards in all housekeeping areas, including all guestrooms, public areas, offices, laundry, lockers and storage areas in both the front and back of house. Oversee inspection processes, ensuring feedback is delivered in constructive and appropriate manner with emphasis on positive reinforcement.
• Establish and/or implement operating procedures and standards
• Plan and coordinate the activities of housekeeping supervisors and their crew
• Coordinate inspection or inspect assigned areas to ensure standards are met
• Apply human resource management skills, such as hiring, training, scheduling and evaluating performance
• Complete financial management tasks, such as setting and adhering to a budget
• Approach all encounters with guests and employees in a friendly, service oriented manner.
• Maintain regular attendance in compliance with New Castle standards, as required by scheduling which will vary according to the needs of the hotel.
• Maintain high standards of personal appearance and grooming, which include wearing the proper business attire and nametag when working.
• Comply at all times with Algonquin standards and regulations to encourage safe and efficient hotel operations.
• Establish and maintain a regularly scheduled cleaning program (i.e. floor care, hard cleaning, mattress flipping, etc.).
• Select and provide proper equipment and supplies for efficient and economical operation of the department.
• Establish and maintain standards of quality control.
• Review daily, weekly and monthly reports (i.e. labour, revenue, sales, occupancy, arrivals, VIP).
• Conduct public area inspections as well as room inspections to evaluate the physical condition of the hotel and recommend repairs, painting, and furnishings.
• Supervise all staff including hiring, training, evaluations, payroll, and scheduling in accordance with company policy.
• Inspects Laundry area daily.
• Tracking of Linen inventory, check for overloading of washers and dryers.
• Inspect and ensure Laundry area is keep cleaned.
• Attend department head meetings as scheduled.
• Other duties as required.
Requirements:
• Minimum 5 years' experience as a Housekeeping Supervisor / Assistant Manager
• Proficiency with computers
• Degree in Hospitality and Tourism or relevant experience is required.
• A team member with a positive attitude and a proven track record in results.
• Superior time management, organizational, problem resolution, and communication skills
• Strong leadership, supervisory and decision-making skills
• Strong commitment to quality & guest service orientation
• Must be efficient. Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment and maintain a high-level attention to detail. Self-motivated and able to manage people and processes.
• Must have strong customer support orientation (for internal/external customers) and demonstrate professional demeanor at all times
