The Director of Sales will be responsible for hotel sales through solicitation of new and existing customers (corporate and social) via prospecting, sales calls, networking, and e: marketing.
What will you do?
Develop and execute a comprehensive sales and marketing plan.
Conduct an effective direct sales effort, achieving sales activity goals.
Monitor and update the Sales Action Calendar daily.
Develop and manage sales and marketing budget.
Meet or exceed budgeted revenue and profit goals.
Cultivate and source leads through cold calls, telemarketing, direct sales, creative proposals and networking.
Maintain rapport with competitor hotels, lead sources, clients and the local community groups.
Manage and develop the Sales Coordinator.
Review monthly reports for achievement of goals, trends, and market analysis reports to ensure room forecasts are accurate.
Attend networking events and Chamber of Commerce events.
Partner with third party social media teams to effectively grow audience.
Ensure Revenue Management strategies are set, implemented and critiqued on a weekly basis with Revenue/Regional Manager.
Monitor and respond to all RFP requests for pricing.
Respond to all group and function requests, negotiating rates and blocks, and managing meeting room and catering availability.
Communicate all group and function needs effectively to all departments.
Ensure Direct Bill procedures are implemented properly and accounts are current.
Collaborates and strategizes with General Manager, Revenue/Regional Manager and Hotel Ownership.
Authors and tailors Sales Contract Clauses and Waivers.
Responsible for collecting tax exemptions and insurance policies for group sales.
Curates effective event consultations and property tours.
Attend all staff and leadership meetings.
Responsible for accurate reconciliation pages, commissions and rebate invoices.
Process and post all room block, rental and catering payments.
Organize strategic cut off dates, purchase order dates and rooming list dates.
Responsible for Rate Code Creation and Cluster Code Creation for new accounts.
Update the Sales Account List weekly
Organize the Local Corporate Rate Sheet for Front Desk & Sales
Provide up-to-date Room Diagrams (max capacities, etc)
Other duties as required.
About you:
At least 1 year sales and/or sales management experience.
Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills.
Ability and desire to perform outside direct sales.
Understanding of revenue generation and profit/loss implications.
Ability to work as team player with all levels of hotel staff.
Excellent guest relations.
Excellent event planning skills.
Basic computer skills.
Basic math and finance skills.
Familiarity with the various Marriott sales systems (MarRFP, CI/TY, MARSHA, FOSSE, OneYield, SFA, QuickGroup, and Marriott.com) is preferable.
Familiarity with various Intermediary/Third Party Sales and Social Media Systems (Hotel Planner, Rooming List, Event Pipe, OneViewDashboard etc)
