Position Summary:
The Director of Events Planning is responsible for the successful planning, coordination, and execution of all events at Sheraton Fiji Golf & Beach Resort. This leadership role ensures that all events, including corporate meetings, weddings, social gatherings, and MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions), align with the resort's brand standards and exceed client expectations. The Director will work closely with Sales, F&B, and operational teams to deliver seamless, memorable experiences
for guests while driving revenue and profitability.
Key Responsibilities:
Event Planning & Execution
Lead the events team in the end-to-end planning and execution of conferences, meetings, weddings, and social events.
Ensure seamless coordination between departments to deliver high-quality service and guest experiences.
Oversee event setup, audiovisual requirements, F&B service, and overall logistics.
Maintain flexibility to accommodate last-minute client requests and changes.
Sales & Client Relationship Management
Partner with the sales team to convert event inquiries into confirmed bookings.
Develop strong relationships with corporate clients, event planners, and wedding specialists to drive repeat business.
Conduct site inspections and pre-event meetings with clients to finalize details.
Handle VIP events and high-profile clientele with a focus on personalization and exceptional service.
Financial & Revenue Management
Drive event revenue by optimizing space utilization, package offerings, and upselling opportunities.
Work with the finance team to create accurate forecasts, budgets, and cost controls.
Monitor and analyze event profitability and suggest strategies for revenue growth.
Team Leadership & Development
Lead, train, and mentor the events team to deliver exceptional service.
Foster a culture of excellence, collaboration, and creativity.
Set performance goals, provide feedback, and ensure the team meets KPIs.
Operational Excellence & Brand Standards
Ensure all events adhere to Marriott International and Sheraton brand standards.
Develop and implement processes to enhance efficiency and service quality.
Stay updated on industry trends, competitor offerings, and innovative event experiences.
Qualifications & Experience
Bachelor's degree or Diploma in Hospitality Management, Business, or a related field preferred.
Minimum 3+ years of experience in event planning or conference services, preferably in a luxury hotel or resort setting.
Strong leadership and team management skills.
Excellent communication, negotiation, and problem-solving abilities.
Ability to multitask in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
Knowledge of event management software and Marriott's CI/TY system is a plus.
