St. Regis Hotels & Resorts celebrates the return of the Toronto International Film Festival with premier of Daliland
Guests and Visitors are welcomed by the iconic hospitality brand, St. Regis Toronto to discover the glamorous world of Daliland
St. Regis Hotels Resorts celebrates the return of the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) by partnering with the festivals highly anticipated closing gala film, Dalland, for a series of exquisite hotel programming at The St. Regis Toronto from September 8-18. Step inside the hotel and discover an immersive Dalland Set Exhibit, which features an AI art experience and recreates the suite at The St. Regis New York that famously served as Salvador Dals winter home for over 40 years. Guests can also enjoy nightly live jazz performances, Dal-inspired cocktails, afternoon tea, and more.
TIFFs official closing gala film, Dalland explores the period of the artists life during which he and his wife made their home in Suite 1501 at The St. Regis New York for months at a time. It was there that Dal famously knocked a wall down between two rooms to create a larger studio for his painting, and it is this room that serves as both the background and heart of Dalland. From its inception, the St. Regis brand provided the films production team with historical insights to ensure authenticity and to bring Dalland to life, and it is this story line that informs each aspect of the Dalland activations at The St. Regis Toronto during TIFF. The film is written by Mary Harron and John Walsh, stars Sir Ben Kingsley, Barbara Sukowa, Chris Briney, Andreja Pejic and Suki Waterhouse, and is produced by Edward R. Pressman, David O Sacks, Chris Curling, Daniel Brunt and Sam Pressman.
We are thrilled to see the story of one of St. Regiss most infamous guests brought to life with the premiere of Dalland, said George Fleck, Vice President and Global Brand Leader, St. Regis Hotels Resorts. In celebration of the film, we look forward to offering guests their own glimpse into the magical and glamorous world of Dal at The St. Regis Toronto during TIFF this fall!
From September 8-18, 2022, guests can experience the Dalland Set Exhibit in the lobby of The St. Regis Toronto, a masterful recreation of The St. Regis suite used by Dal as his New York studio. Dallands production designer, Isona Rigau, shared elements and materials from the film to allow Toronto-based production designer Joshua Turpin and art director Steven Bennet to transport guests into Dalland circa 1974. Sidney Leeder is producing the installation which was designed by New York based artist Matthew Tierney. In an effort to establish a relationship between guests and Salvador Dal, as well as spark conversation on the nature of Surrealism in 2022, the pop-up also harnesses the incredible DALLE technology, the leading AI system from OpenAI that generates original art from a text description, giving guests the opportunity to create unique and personal works of art inspired by the film. At the end of their experience, guests will take away a digital copy of their DALLE generated artwork and will have the opportunity to have photographs taken of them in the studio set. The pop-up will run daily from 5:00p.m. 9:00p.m. through the closing day of TIFF on September 18.
The St. Regis Toronto has also partnered with Louis Roederer Cristal to transform its Astor Lounge into the Cristal Champagne Jazz Lounge with nightly live jazz performances from 6:00p.m.-9:00p.m. during TIFF. Here, those visiting the Dalland Set Exhibit can enjoy Dal-inspired cocktails including the Casanova a recipe created by Dal himself, Louis Roederer Cristal Champagne-infused bites and the St. Regis brands Champagne sabrage ritual at 6:00p.m. daily. During these dates, Astor Lounge will launch a bevy of new offerings from its new daily food menu to its Dal Afternoon Tea replete with a new menu of savory bites and spectacular Dal-inspired painted desserts that also complement the new champagne menu. All activities take place amongst genuine and rare Salvador Dal sculptures on loan from Hazelton Galleries the only available to be sold in Canada.
