Marriott Wins Big at the 8th Middle East Hospitality Excellence Awards
Hospitality excellence is recognized via popularity choice.
The 8th Middle East Hospitality Excellence Accolades, hosted by the Hozpitality Group at the Arabian Ranches Golf Club on November 16, 2022, saw Marriott Hotels and Resorts take home several awards, including Hospitality Excellence for Best Hospitality Management Company of the Year in the Middle East.
The Middle East Hospitality Excellence Awards are based on people's choice awards. 170,000 people cast ballots in 2022, determining the fate of their coworkers and acquaintances. Over 500 business leaders from the sector attended a spectacular award event at the Arabian Ranches Golf Club, where the outstanding nominees were honoured.
Level 43, a Four Points by Sheraton on Sheikh Zayed Road in Dubai, took home the Gold award for Restaurant of the Year (Lounge/Night Club) in the corporate category. On the other hand, aloft Palm Jumeirah Hotel Dubai received the Gold Award for Hotel of the Year (4 Stars).
The Four Points by Sheraton Sheikh Zayed Road won the Gold Award for Hotel of the Year (Green Initiatives), while Marriott's The Ritz Carlton Al Wadi Desert won the title of Hotel of the Year (Best Heritage Resort).
Another upmarket Marriott hotel, the La Ville Hotel & Suites CITY WALK, Dubai, Autograph Collection, was voted Hotel of the Year (Best Boutique Hotel).
In the personal category, Sandeep Walia, Marriott International's COO for the Middle East, won the title of Hospitality Leader of the Year. At the same time, Gurnoor Bindra, General Manager of the Sheraton Mall of the Emirates Hotel in Dubai, and Khaled Saab, General manager of the Residence Inn by Marriott Sheikh Zayed, each took home the Gold award in the category for Top General Managers of the Year.
Other winners included Nasif Latheef, the Cluster IT manager at the Four Points by Sheraton on Sheikh Zayed Road, who won silver for the best IT person of the year, and Abdennasser Ayad, the Government Relations officer at the Four Points by Sheraton Sharjah, who bagged silver award as the CSR Champion of the Year.
In Admin and Secretary, Ligaya Micosa, Executive Assistant to GM, Sheraton Jumeirah Beach Resort, won a Silver Award. Ajai Nair, Cluster Director of Finance, Aloft Palm Jumeirah and Sheraton Jumeirah Beach Resort, won a Gold award for his team in the Hospitality Excellence in Accounts and Finance category.
Some Judges Choice awards were presented to a few Marriott Hotels and Resorts employees and organizations. The Four Points by Sheraton Downtown in Dubai's Purani Dilli was awarded Indian Restaurant of the Year. Richard Njoku, Director of Finance at Four Points by Sheraton Sharjah, won Finance Person of the Year. At the same time, Nedyalka Haydutova, Cluster Director of Sales & Marketing at Sheraton Jumeirah Beach Resort and Aloft Palm Jumeirah, earned Commended Sales Person of the Year.
