Your Role
We are looking for a Training & Development Manager who is passionate about people and service, to lead the training and development function at Dreams Madeira Resort & Spa. This role is key in fostering a culture of continuous learning, focusing on operational excellence and empowering our colleagues to be their best selves-so they can care for our guests the way they deserve.
You will report directly to the hotel's Director of Human Resources and work closely with the hotel's Leadership Committee. You will also receive ongoing support and guidance from the Inclusive Portfolio Training & Development Manager for EAME.
Key Responsibilities
• Training Strategy & Implementation
• Design and execute a training strategy aligned with the hotel's operational needs and Hyatt's values.
• Bring the global and regional Hyatt training frameworks to life within the hotel.
• Ensure a consistent and high-quality training experience for all colleagues.
• Operational & Service Development
• Focus on empowering colleagues with the knowledge, skills, and mindset to deliver outstanding service and operational excellence.
• Embed training into the daily operation to support on-the-job learning and development.
Needs Analysis
• Conduct regular training needs assessments in collaboration with department heads and the Leadership Committee.
• Identify gaps in service, operational performance, and leadership development.
• Content Development & Delivery
• Customize and deliver impactful training sessions, workshops, and onboarding programs tailored to the property.
• Support department heads and managers in becoming effective in-house trainers.
• Champion a learning culture by making training engaging, relevant, and aligned with business goals.
Stakeholder Collaboration
• Act as a trusted partner to department leaders in designing development plans for their teams.
• Collaborate with the Inclusive Portfolio Training & Development Manager to align on regional strategies and leverage resources.
• Impact Measurement
• Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of training programs through colleague feedback, performance indicators, and guest satisfaction metrics.
• Adjust strategies based on insights to drive continuous improvement.
Administration & Compliance
• Oversee training records, participation tracking, and any required reporting.
• Ensure compliance with local legal training obligations (if applicable).
*** This is an onsite position in the Madiera Island in Portugal and requieres ongoing work authorization) ***
Qualifications
Minimum 2 years of experience in training and development in a hospitality or operational setting.
• Strong facilitation and presentation skills.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities.
• Ability to engage and inspire diverse teams.
• Organized, proactive, and results-oriented.
• Fluent in English; Portuguese is a strong advantage.
• Hospitality experience required.
• Hyatt experience is highly valued.
