Description
Operational
• Supervises the repair, maintenance and engineering operations according to the departmental standards.
• Properly handles and maintains all power tools and measuring instruments.
• Assists other tradespersons or technicians when requested by Superiors.
• Modifies installations to minimise waste of material and provide access for future maintenance.
• Avoids unsightly hazards and complies with all local regulations and codes.
• Ensures cleanliness of all work areas and protects the surroundings when executing duties.
• Executes Preventive Maintenance Programme according to schedules.
• Regularly inspects the entire building with particular attention on defective or deficient life safety features and to observe closely the condition of all operating equipment. Specific attention must be placed on areas of difficult access.
• Ensures effective energy conservation measures in areas of operations.
• Ensures fire, life and safety systems are operational.
• Ensures effective service recovery pertaining to guests' feedback.
• Reviews and approves all invoices and Purchase Requests involving Technical Services and installations, machinery, parts and audio visual equipment etc.
Other duties
• Attends and contributes to all training sessions and meetings as required.
• Is knowledgeable in statutory legislation in employee and industrial relations.
• Exercises responsible behaviour at all times and positively representing the hotel team and Hyatt International.
• Maintains strong, professional relationship with relevant representatives from competitor hotels, business partners and other organisations.
• Reads the hotel's Associate Handbook and have an understanding of and adhere to the hotel's rules and regulations and in particular, the policies and procedures relating to computer resources, fire, hygiene, health and safety.
• Ensures high standards of personal presentation and grooming.
• Responds to changes in the Engineering function as dictated by the industry, company and hotel.
• Carries out any other reasonable duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Financial
• Assists to maximise employee productivity through the use of multi-skilling, multi-tasking and flexible scheduling to meet the financial goals of the business as well as the expectations of the guests.
• Ensures that all hotel, company and local rules, policies and regulations relating to financial record keeping, money handling and licensing are adhered to, including the timely and accurate reporting of financial information.
Customer Service
• Ensures that all Associates deliver the brand promise and provide exceptional guest service at all times.
• Provides a courteous and professional service at all times and ensures that Associates also provide excellent service to internal customers in other departments as appropriate.
• Handles all guest and internal customer complaints and inquiries in a courteous and efficient manner, following through to make sure problems are resolved satisfactorily.
• Maintains positive guest and colleague interactions with good working relationships.
Personnel
• Assists to oversee the punctuality and appearance of all Engineering Associates, making sure that they wear the correct uniform and maintain a high standard of personal appearance and hygiene, according to the hotel and department's grooming standards.
• Assists to maximise the effectiveness of Engineering Associates by developing each of their skills and abilities through the appropriate training, coaching, and/or mentoring.
• Conducts annual Performance Development Discussions and supports them in their professional development goals.
• Encourages Associates to be creative and innovative, challenging and recognising them for their contribution to the success of the operation.
• Supports the implementation of The People Philosophy, demonstrating and reinforcing Hyatt's Values and Culture Characteristics.
• Ensures that all Associates have a complete understanding of and adhere to employee rules and regulations.
• Ensures that Associates follow all hotel, company and local rules, policies and regulations relating to fire and hazard safety, and security.
• Assists to feedback the results of the Employee Opinion Survey and to ensure that the relevant changes are implemented.
Qualifications
• Minimum 2+ years of experience in similar position.
• Ideally with a relevant degree.
