Role
The Kitchen Mechanic is responsible for the maintenance of back of house areas including kitchen, laundry, electrical, and mechanical systems. Individual must possess a strong background and knowledge of such systems. Previous engineering experience is required, preferably in a hotel environment.EPA certification is required when working on Refrigeration Equipment.
General Duties and Responsibilities:
• Install and set up new kitchen equipment, including ovens, stoves, grills, fryers, refrigerators, dishwashers, and other appliances.
• Inspect and troubleshoot kitchen equipment to identify issues, malfunctions, or potential problems.
• Perform routine maintenance tasks, such as cleaning, lubricating, and adjusting equipment to ensure optimal performance and extend its lifespan.
• Repair or replace defective parts, components, or systems in kitchen equipment, following manufacturer's instructions and safety guidelines.
• Test and calibrate equipment to ensure accurate temperature, pressure, and other operational parameters.
• Keep detailed records of all maintenance and repair activities, including parts used, services performed, and equipment condition.
• Collaborate with kitchen staff and management to understand their equipment needs and provide recommendations for upgrades or replacements.
• Stay updated with the latest industry trends, technologies, and regulations related to kitchen equipment and appliances.
• Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines while working with electrical, gas, and other potentially hazardous systems.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area, ensuring that tools, equipment, and spare parts are properly stored and maintained.

Qualifications
• EPA certification is required when working on Refrigeration Equipment
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Proven experience as a kitchen mechanic or similar role, preferably in a commercial kitchen environment.
• Strong knowledge of kitchen equipment, including ovens, stoves, grills, fryers, refrigerators, dishwashers, and other appliances.
