The Human Resources Manager is a highly visible position and plays a crucial role in supporting the overall direction and execution of HR functions in an often fast-paced hospitality environment. This position is responsible for managing day-to-day HR operations, employee relations, recruitment, performance management, and compliance with company policies and legal regulations. The HR Manager ensures that all team members feel valued, supported, and empowered to deliver exceptional service to our guests.
Key Responsibilities:
- Recruitment & Onboarding:
- Oversee recruitment and hiring, including job postings, candidate screening, extending offers, managing the background process, and ensuring completion of essential paperwork before and on their first day.
- Assist management in sourcing candidates, including but not limited to boosting ads and participating and coordinating on and off-site career fairs.
- Work as liaison between candidates and hiring managers.
- Lead onboarding and serve as back up to HRD to ensure a regular cadence of orientations (Welcome to Hyatt) to integrate new hires into the company culture and hotel operations.
- Employee Relations:
- Address and resolve disputes between employees, or between employees and management, to maintain a harmonious workplace.
- Act as a trusted resource for employees, handling complaints/concerns, managing conflict resolution and employee concerns with confidentiality and professionalism.
- Support managers in dealing with employee performance issues, including providing coaching, implementing performance improvement plans (PIPs), and handling disciplinary actions when needed.
- Foster a positive workplace culture that encourages teamwork, open communication, and employee engagement.
- Conduct investigations into employee complaints, such as those related to discrimination, harassment, or unethical behavior, and recommending corrective actions.
- Provide coaching and support to managers on employee performance issues, ensuring alignment with Hyatt and CML standards and values.
- Partner with HRD to facilitate training programs to enhance skills, service standards, and career development.
- Safety and Wellness:
- Establish and maintain processes to educate managers and colleagues about safety and wellness.
- Partner with hotel management to reduce/correct work safety concerns.
- Collaborate with managers to lead safety and wellness initiatives including forming and chairing the hotel's Wellness Committee and driving employee recognition programs.
- Regularly review employee handbook, policies and SOPs to ensure all reflect current laws as well as best and safe practices.
- Oversee worker's compensation claims, leaves of absence, and employee accommodations.
- Send personal recognition to acknowledge life events such as a new child, expressions of sympathy, etc.
- Coordinate and conduct quarterly WC claims and long-term LOA review with GM & HRD
- Compensation & Benefits:
- Close bi-weekly payroll and fund weekly tips, ensuring accuracy and compliance with labor laws.
- Assist HRD with wage surveys and market research to maintain competitive compensation practices.
- Maintain detailed and accurate records of employee wages, taxes, and deductions.
- Regularly review payroll processes to ensure accuracy, identify discrepancies, and prevent errors.
- Address employee concerns related to payroll discrepancies, overtime, tax withholdings, and deductions, etc.
- Prepare payroll reports for management, including labor costs, overtime, and tax liabilities.
Compensation: The salary range of this position is $75,000-$85,000.
Qualifications Qualifications:- Education: Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred OR HR certification (e.g., PHR, SHRM-CP) strongly preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of HR experience, preferably in the hospitality industry.
- Skills:
- Strong understanding of employment law, labor relations, and HR best practices.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a demonstrated ability to build trust and rapport with all levels of staff.
- Proficiency in HRIS systems, Microsoft Office Suite, and applicant tracking systems.
- Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and confidentiality.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities.
- Demonstrated ability to balance multiple priorities and work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
