Our Group guests will get to elevate their meeting, seminar, or conference with the help of our hotel's experienced Culinary staff and their delicious catering options. Using fresh, locally sourced ingredients, our team will work with the guests to create the perfect menu to satisfy the cravings and dietary needs of the San Francisco event's attendees.

We are looking for a skilled and enthusiastic Chef de Partie with a focus on banquet operations to join our culinary team at Grand Hyatt at SFO. In this role, you will oversee a designated section of the kitchen during banquet events, ensuring the delivery of high-quality food in a timely manner for large groups of guests. The ideal candidate will have experience working in a banquet or large-scale catering environment and will excel in a high-pressure, fast-paced setting.

Key Responsibilities:

Banquet Food Preparation and Cooking:

• Oversee food preparation and cooking for banquet events, ensuring all dishes meet the hotel's high culinary standards.
• Manage a specific section of the kitchen during large-scale events, such as appetizers, main courses, or desserts.
• Prepare and cook meals according to banquet menu specifications, following recipes and portion control guidelines.
• Ensure consistency in food quality, taste, and presentation for all banquet functions, regardless of scale.

Event Coordination:

• Work closely with the Banquet Chef, Sous Chefs, and event managers to ensure that all aspects of the banquet kitchen operation run smoothly.
• Assist with menu planning and special event requests, ensuring that all culinary needs are met for events of various sizes.
• Ensure food is prepared and ready on time for buffet setups, plated meals, or family-style service during events.

Team Leadership and Collaboration:

• Supervise and mentor junior kitchen staff, including line cooks and kitchen assistants, during banquet functions.
• Coordinate with kitchen and service teams to ensure seamless event execution, particularly in high-volume settings.
• Provide guidance and support to staff, ensuring they are working efficiently and following best practices in food safety and preparation.

Quality Control and Presentation:

• Ensure all dishes are plated and presented according to the hotel's standards.
• Taste and inspect all dishes before service to ensure consistency and quality.
• Adapt to changing demands in banquet events, maintaining high standards even with volume increases or tight timelines.

Health and Safety Standards:

• Adhere to strict food safety and hygiene standards, maintaining a clean and organized workspace at all times.
• Ensure kitchen equipment is maintained in good working order and report any malfunctions.
• Ensure compliance with hotel health and safety regulations and local health codes.

Inventory and Stock Control:

• Assist in managing inventory levels, ensuring proper stock rotation and minimizing waste.
• Communicate any stock shortages or special ingredient requirements to the Sous Chef or Executive Chef.
• Help with ordering ingredients and supplies needed for upcoming banquets and events.

This is an hourly position with a compensation of $31.93 per hour.

This is the pay for this position that Grand Hyatt at SFO reasonably expects to pay. Decisions regarding individual salaries will be based on a number of factors such as experience and education.

Qualifications
• Proven experience as a Chef de Partie, with a focus on banquets, large-scale catering, or hotel kitchens.

• Culinary qualifications or a relevant degree from a reputable institution preferred.

• Strong experience in banquet kitchen operations, including high-volume food production and event catering.

• Excellent knowledge of food safety standards, kitchen procedures, and sanitation.

• Ability to work under pressure and adapt to the dynamic demands of large events.

• Strong organizational and time management skills.

• Ability to work efficiently in a team and lead by example.

• Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays, as required for events.
