The Banquet Manager's primary focus is to supervise the banquet captain and banquet team, run the shift ensuring all arrangements are made so as to provide the customer with a very high level of service and quality and to facilitate all customer requests in a timely and courteous manner.
Essential Duties/Tasks/Responsibilities
- Determine amount of future business and work load requirements with information gathered from Events/sales department
- Ability to assist the hotel in reaching top service scores on Meeting Planner and guest surveys.
- Ensure proper cleaning, breakdown and storage of all equipment after function is completed
- Responsible for the appropriate and timely set up of all functions, meetings, and food service while maintaining standards of food and beverage specifications.
- Responsible for ensuring coordination and execution of all events between Banquets/Event Services, Event Set Up, Culinary, Stewarding, Event Sales and Event Planning, and Beverage.
- Supervise, hire/terminate, empower, train, coach and motivate the events banquet and event setup team towards achieving exceptional guest service results and colleague engagement. Performing daily walk-throughs in all function space, storerooms, and outlets to ensure full compliance with Department of Health regulations and Hyatt Corporate standards
- Responsible for maintaining a high energy, positive, professional appearance.
- Responsible for scheduling based on business needs, sharing schedule weekly on Thursdays by 12p, noon
• Facilitate Banquet EO Meetings and attend weekly meetings
• Administrative tasks include the facilitation of payroll, reports, forecasts, point of sale procedures, inventory, and budget for food and beverage functions.
• Support overall hotel and food and beverage operations as needed
• Responsible for developing innovative and creative décor for Banquet function space.
• Ability to develop ideas to enhance the banquet event experience at Thompson Savannah and implement ideas
• Perform other reasonable job duties as requested by leadership
Knowledge/ Skills• Extremely well organized with the ability to multitask and possess strong time-management skills to prioritize to meet deadlines
• Able to apply solution-based thinking to effectively anticipate, prevent, identify, and solve problems, as necessary
• Clearly and effectively communicate both verbally and written with all levels of colleagues and guests in an attentive, friendly, courteous, and service oriented manner
• Read and interpret business records and hotel reports
• Use mathematical skills to interpret financial information and budgets
- Analyze and interpret policies established by administrators
- Make business decisions based on staffing reports, similar facts, and experience
- Deal with the general public, customers, guest and employees with tact and courtesy
- Plan and organize the work of others
- Change activity frequently and cope with interruptions.

Minimum Qualifications • A true desire to satisfy the needs of others in a fast-paced environment
• Solid food and beverage knowledge
• Customer-service focused
• Strong communication, analytical, organizational and time management skills
• Full-time management position that requires full flexibility, including the ability to work weekends, holidays, and a varied schedule
• Previous experience as a Banquet Manager/Assistant Manager preferred

Physical Demands• While performing the duties of this job, the incumbent is regularly required to move 10lbs on a daily basis.
• Move, lift, carry, push, pull, & place objects weighing less than or equal to 25 Ibs without assistance & objects weighing in excess of 50 Ibs with assistance
