The Role
This individual will work closely with quality assurance, development, platform engineering, and platform operations teams to develop and establish quality assurance standards and processes for the product engineering organization. This is a technical role and the individual in this role will provide technical leadership towards the design and architecture of the automation framework, with input from the Hyatt QA community, as well as evaluating new testing tools, developing documentation and reference architectures, and mentoring that aid in the framework's adoption.
Here are some of the position responsibilities
•Develop and establish quality assurance measures and testing standards for new development and enhancements.
•Assumes team-level architectural responsibilities, ensuring that the quality teams are using the appropriate technology for the problem.
•Monitors existing QA tools and processes, identifying tooling, instrumentation, and process opportunities to improve overall quality and efficiency with an eye towards "shifting left".
•Expert in and proven experience with test design and architecture patterns used for functional, performance, and security testing.
•Considers multiple approaches and recommends best technical direction including logic and reasoning.
• Evaluate new frameworks and tools, building reference architectures to demonstrate how these technologies can be leveraged by a team.
•Creates reusable framework components and pattern libraries that aid teams utilizing those technologies
•Mentors test engineers in best practices, new technologies, and new frameworks. Assists in the resolution of technical issues such as automation challenges and environmental setup issues.
•Lends in to assist in testing efforts as necessary, including reviewing pull requests, creating, and executing test plans and scripts, and communicating test progress.
•Facilitates architecture discussions/peer reviews and creates RFC and other documentation to document new standards.
•Establishes relationships and partners with both internal and external team members.
Qualifications
Experience Required:
•8+ years of progressively complex experience in full-time development and leadership roles.
•BS in Computer Science or equivalent combination of technical education and work experience.
•Demonstrated experience in the Agile/Scrum development process.
•Demonstrated experience implementing performance testing using tools such as JMeter, K6, Loadrunner, or equivalents.
•Demonstrated use of Java, XML, JS, CSS, and HTML.
•Demonstrated understanding of Object-Oriented Programming concepts.
•Strong Agile experience preferred in an environment leveraging DevOps patterns and practices in an environment that utilizes Gitlab or Jenkins for Continuous Integration.
•Strong knowledge of system testing best practices and methodologies.
•Expertise in documenting defects with a high level of detail, accuracy, and informative recreation steps using JIRA.
•Proficient in the preparation of test data and regression test scripts.
•Proficient in cross-browser, cross-platform web testing with SauceLabs or equivalent tools.
•Proficient in testing web services (REST and SOAP) testing using SoapUI, Postman, or equivalent tools.
•Proficient in leveraging Splunk or similar tools to view system logs and troubleshoot potential defects.
•Excellent interpersonal skills required with a strong customer service orientation.
•Demonstrate a commitment to Hyatt's core values.
•Ability to work effectively both independently and as a member of a team.
•Experience managing multiple tasks at the same time.
•Ability to adapt to a changing environment.
