It was the era of Print Media, It may be the era of Electronic Media but you can bet the future belongs to Social Media.
Have you seen any 6 year kid to a grown up old man without a Facebook or twitter Account? Answer is very simple NO.
The number of people who book hotel reservations through online travel agencies like Booking.com, Agoda, Expedia, Orbitz and many other website continues to grow each year. Although this type of booking helps to fill hotel rooms, it takes away the hotel’s direct interaction with the customer. This trend also reduces the revenue that hotels make from those bookings because the online travel agencies have to take their cuts, too.(15% to 20%)
Fortunately, social networks like Facebook present a significant opportunity for hotels to build relationships that lead to brand awareness, word-of-mouth marketing, and ultimately, sales.
Hotels should guarantee the lowest prices and offer price matching to guests who make reservations through Facebook. This type of room booking is yet to be adoped. WHY NOT TO BE THE FIRST ONE? You can bet it’s going to grow by leaps and bounds in the near future.
How to advertise it?
Printing the social media icons,on the guest’s room key packet or on the keycard itself. Since guests will have their room key on them at all times, this will help remind the guest to go onto your social media outlets when they have a moment. You can also use the key cards or key packets to promote outlet specials or other property amenities.Once a guest arrives at their guest room, most will look around the room to inspect it to make sure it is up to their standards, figure out the amenities and get comfortable. Printed material placed in the guest room is the perfect place to add the social media icons.These subtle hints will remind guests that they can interact with the hotel through various outlets. Also, if the guest has a problem and posts about it on social media during their stay, the hotel has a better opportunity to catch it and enact service recovery while the guest is still on property.
Every body needs access to INTERNET. Why not use it as a marketing tool and access would be granted on liking the hotel's facebook page.
How to use the page?
If we are the only one publishing content to our Facebook Page, it’s going to get very boring. The best Facebook Pages are highly interactive, so we have to encourage visitors to publish comments, click the Like button, tag people in photos, and share pictures and videos from their visits to our hotel.No one will want to hang out with you on Facebook if we only talk about ourself or publish content that reads like a marketing brochure. Instead, be real, honest, and personable. Our hotel brand should tell a story on Facebook, not bore people to death
Remember, every time someone publishes a positive image, video, or comment on Facebook Page, that activity is also published on his or her personal Facebook profile.
