📞 I received a random call from one of our employees while driving back home and I’m really surprised.
I’m already anticipating to counsel, guide or answer any matters or complaints that he might have considering the two call I had that afternoon however to my surprise it was never the case.
He called me to personally express his gratitude for all the things that he enjoys at work with all the initiatives on board with me as the head of HR. He admits thinking of resigning a couple of times but he’s always reminded of the many employee benefits he enjoys both financially and morally.
He then throws a question “Why are you doing this for the employees? You’ve just been with us for a few years but you’ve made a positive impact in our lives? Why are you fighting for the employee? My simple answer was “If it makes me happy, for sure it will make everyone happy. We all share the basic human need - to be happy”. And the #attitudeofgratitude continues all throughout the call.
I believe it’s equally healthy to also receive compliments - not to brag or to feel highly of oneself but to stay grounded and motivated in all that you do. It gives one the power to continuously influence others positively.
Modesty aside, I’ve received these compliments before, and has always been my fuel to be a relatable leader in my simple ways. Not to mean great but these comments keep me grounded to achieve greater things!
The culture of appreciation goes a long way - build and grow from it. Remember, always be grateful.
