Job Description
The Wine Steward at The Waterlot is a critical role responsible for curating, managing, and presenting an exceptional wine experience for our discerning guests. The ideal candidate will possess extensive wine knowledge, refined service skills, and a passion for enhancing our guests' dining experience through expert wine selection and pairing.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and maintain the restaurant's comprehensive wine cellar, ensuring proper storage, inventory management, and rotation of wine collections
- Develop and update the wine list to showcase a diverse and high-quality selection of wines from around the world
- Provide expert wine recommendations that complement our steakhouse menu and enhance guests' dining experiences
- Conduct tableside wine service with exceptional professionalism, including wine presentation, decanting, and pouring
- Train and mentor service staff on wine knowledge, service techniques, and food and wine pairing
- Collaborate with the Executive Chef to create wine pairing menus and special wine-focused events
- Maintain detailed knowledge of the restaurant's wine inventory, pricing, and availability, create all wine orders
- Assist in wine purchasing decisions and relationship management with wine distributors and vineyards
Qualifications
- Minimum of 3-5 years of high-end restaurant wine service experience
- Extensive knowledge of global wine regions, varietals, vintages, and wine production techniques
- Excellent palate and ability to describe wine characteristics with precision and eloquence
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
