Job Title: Senior Server
Department: F&B, Gallery
Inspired and Supported by: Restaurant General Manager
Salary: £37,410 including service charge
Your purpose will be: As a Senior Server at Gallery, you are an ambassador of exceptional service, ensuring a seamless and luxurious dining experience for our guests. You will lead by example, support and train your team, and uphold the highest service standards in line with our brand and hotel policies.
You will be accountable for:
- Delivering Exceptional Service: Providing a professional 5-star experience with a warm and personal touch.
- Leading & Supporting the Team: Organizing daily service, conducting pre-shift briefings, motivating colleagues, and assisting when needed.
- Training & Development: Coaching team members to meet high service standards and assisting in performance management.
- Guest Engagement: Advising guests on menu offerings, sharing expert knowledge, and creating memorable experiences.
- Service Excellence: Overseeing smooth dining operations across breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea, and dinner service while being present on the floor.
- Operational Efficiency: Managing reservations, monitoring guest feedback, and taking appropriate actions to improve service.
- Financial Responsibility: Supporting financial goals, assisting with inventory management, and implementing revenue-boosting initiatives.
- Maintaining Standards: Ensuring all service areas are neat, organized, and compliant with operational procedures.
- Handling Transactions: Competently managing cash, credit card payments, and room charges.
- Inventory & Supplies: Monitoring inventory levels to ensure the availability of essential items such as cutlery, glassware, and china.
- Problem Resolution: Addressing and resolving guest concerns in a professional and timely manner.
- Team Communication: Participating in regular meetings and training sessions to align with the hotel's service expectations.
Qualifications
What you will need to do in this role?Essential:- 3-5 years of experience in the hospitality industry, with at least 1-2 years in a luxury environment.
- Passion for delivering 5-star service with an ability to build genuine guest relationships.
- Strong leadership and communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to work well under pressure and in a fast-paced environment.
- Flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends and holidays.
- Confidence in using hospitality software (POS, reservations systems) and willingness to learn new platforms.
Desirable:- Experience with LQA and Forbes standards.
- Previous experience in boutique hotels or high-end dining establishments.
- Industry-related certifications (e.g., WSET).
- Knowledge of OpenTable and POS systems.
