Job Description
We are seeking a visionary and decisive Director of Engineering and Capital Projects to join our team in Playa del Carmen, Mexico. In this key leadership role, you will oversee the planning, execution, and delivery of major engineering and capital projects for our organization.
- Develop and implement strategic plans for engineering and capital projects aligned with organizational goals
- Lead and mentor a team of engineers and project managers, fostering a culture of innovation and excellence
- Oversee the entire project lifecycle, from conceptualization to completion, ensuring adherence to budgets, schedules, and quality standards
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders to define project scopes, objectives, and deliverables
- Manage project budgets, resource allocation, and risk assessment to optimize project outcomes
- Ensure compliance with local and international regulations, safety standards, and environmental requirements
- Develop and maintain relationships with key vendors, contractors, and consultants
- Implement best practices in project management and engineering methodologies
- Provide regular progress reports and presentations to senior management and stakeholders
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance project delivery efficiency and effectiveness
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Civil, Mechanical, or related field); Master's degree in Engineering Management or MBA preferred
- Professional Engineering (PE) license required; Project Management Professional (PMP) certification preferred
- 10+ years of progressive experience in engineering and project management, with a focus on capital projects
- Proven track record of successfully delivering large-scale engineering and construction projects
- Strong understanding of engineering principles, project management methodologies, and industry best practices
- Excellent leadership skills with the ability to motivate and guide cross-functional teams
- Advanced knowledge of project management software and tools
- Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen eye for detail
- Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence at all levels of the organization
- Proficiency in budget management, risk assessment, and strategic planning
- In-depth knowledge of the construction industry, capital project lifecycle, and regulatory compliance
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
- Fluency in English required; Spanish language skills highly desirable
