Job Description
Credit ManagerAt Fairmont Palliser, you will play a crucial role in managing both strategic and operational financial details daily. As the Credit Manager, you will support the Director and Assistant Director of Finance & Business Support in overseeing the Accounting Department's daily operations. Your primary responsibility is to ensure compliance with established credit and collection policies across all hotel departments.
In this role, you will collaborate closely with the Sales and Front Office teams, fostering strong communication and teamwork. Maintaining the highest level of discretion and confidentiality. Your keen attention to detail, sense of urgency, and strong organizational skills will be critical in ensuring accuracy and efficiency in financial operations.
- Review and approve credit applications in accordance with company policies and procedures.
- Attend Pre-Convention Meetings to assess and address the credit needs of Meeting Planners.
- Collaborate with the Conference Service Manager and Meeting Planner to review the Master Account prior to departure
- Prepare and issue billing statements within three (3) business days, ensuring clarity and accuracy, followed by a confirmation call.
- Investigate and resolve billing inquiries promptly, aiming for resolution within 48 hours.
- Manage and maintain the accounts receivable aged report.
- Review contracts to ensure the proper processing of commissions, attrition and cancellation fees.
- Pursue delinquent accounts and take necessary collection actions.
- Prepare documentation for bad debt write-offs as required.
- Work closely with Front Office Management to ensure the effective maintenance of the Guest Ledger.
- Assist with credit card chargebacks and inquiries, ensuring prompt resolution.
- Conduct weekly reviews with the Director of Finance on the City Ledger, Guest Ledger, advance deposits, and outstanding issues.
- Prepare month-end reports and journal entries, including A/R Recap, 60-90-120 Detail and Action Steps and Credit Status Recap.
- Maintain strong communication with Sales, Catering, Front Office, and all F&B departments to ensure seamless financial processes.
- Enhance guest satisfaction with a strong focus on improving Meeting Planner experience and engagement.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the Director of Finance and Assistant Director of Finance.
Qualifications
- Experience with the Opera system and/or hotel operations is required.
- Previous Leadership experience in Accounts Receivable is required.
- Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting or Business Administration is an asset
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word
- Confident in making data-driven decisions and presenting financial insights to senior management.
- Ability to analyze financial statements and assess creditworthiness of clients.
- Skilled in managing accounts receivable portfolios, reducing bad debt, and improving cash flow.
- High level of attention to detail, accuracy, and analytical thinking.
- Maintain good working relations with colleagues and other departments
- Strong leadership and decision-making abilities.
