Job Description
The Business Development Manager plays a crucial role in driving sales activities and ensuring the achievement of hotel revenue targets in alignment with the sales and marketing plan. This position demands a high level of responsibility and strategic thinking.
- Assume full accountability for lead generation and new account acquisition to meet and exceed group and FIT revenue goals, adhering to market segmentation and budgetary constraints.
- Execute all duties within the stringent framework defined by chain and hotel norms, as well as internal regulations specified by the Director of Sales.
- Rigorously pursue the attainment of hotel budget targets through strategic planning and execution.
- Provide mentorship and guidance to develop a Junior Sales Heartist, focusing on cultivating proactive sales techniques and refining hunting sales strategies.
- Implement comprehensive account management for the sales portfolio, meticulously planning sales activities and establishing sales priorities to achieve revenue goals across all segments.
- Foster a collaborative approach with the reactive sales team to ensure optimal group and event conversion rates.
- Develop and implement robust account qualification criteria, utilising market research to identify high-priority markets and accounts, ensuring proactive coverage across all major market segments.
- Optimise resource utilisation to penetrate new accounts, with a focus on achieving new business goals and generating comprehensive sales reports as required.
- Cultivate and maintain long-term client relationships to ensure business continuity and growth.
- Actively engage in sales-related projects and initiatives as assigned by senior management.
- Demonstrate a thorough understanding of Job Descriptions, Goals, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOP/P&Ps) of the Sales Department, ensuring strict adherence to established protocols.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Business Administration, Hospitality Management, or a closely related field is mandatory.
- A minimum of 3-5 years of demonstrable sales experience in a similar capacity is essential.
- Proven track record in business development, including proficiency in prospecting, networking, conducting site inspections, and executing sales calls.
- Extensive experience and expertise in MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) sales is crucial.
- Superior verbal and written communication skills, with meticulous attention to detail, are non-negotiable.
- Comprehensive understanding of industry trends and the ability to disseminate this knowledge effectively to all staff members is required.
- Exceptional organisational abilities, including the capacity to prioritise and manage multiple tasks simultaneously under pressure.
- A proactive mindset with the ability to anticipate and adapt to business changes is essential.
- Unwavering commitment to the highest standards of personal integrity and ethical conduct is paramount.
- Exemplary customer service skills are a prerequisite for this position.
