Waldorf Astoria Ras Al Khaimah Joins the Green Ramadan Initiative 2025
A Month of Reflection, A Commitment to Sustainability

Waldorf Astoria Ras Al Khaimah is reinforcing its commitment to sustainability by participating in Green Ramadan 2025—a groundbreaking Hilton-led initiative in collaboration with the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) West Asia under the Recipe of Change campaign and Winnow, an AI-powered food waste management solution. Through this initiative, the resort is taking significant steps toward reducing food waste and minimizing its environmental impact throughout the holy month of Ramadan.
Emphasizing a holistic approach to sustainability, Waldorf Astoria Ras Al Khaimah is closing the loop across the food value chain. Over 50% of the fresh produce used in its Ramadan offerings is locally sourced within a 50-mile radius, with vegetables and fruits procured from Fresh on Table and Ali Gholami. Additionally, premium meats, seafood, dairy, and Arabic sweets are carefully selected from regional suppliers like Chef Middle East, reducing food miles while actively supporting local farmers and producers.
The resort is also taking meaningful action against food waste by donating surplus Suhoor and Iftar meals daily throughout Ramadan, and 300 boxes of Chicken Biryani will be donated mid-Ramadan to support those in need—continuing a heartwarming tradition from previous years.
To further optimize sustainability, Waldorf Astoria Ras Al Khaimah is implementing Winnow’s AI-driven waste tracking technology, allowing its culinary team to monitor and analyze food waste from production to plate. Additionally, guests will find carbon impact indicators across buffet stations, offering insights into the environmental footprint of each dish and empowering them to make climate-conscious dining choices.
This year’s Ramadan buffet experience at Waldorf Astoria Ras Al Khaimah seamlessly blends indulgence with mindful consumption, featuring locally sourced ingredients, live cooking stations, and elegantly curated food displays.
By embracing responsible sourcing, cutting-edge technology, and impactful community initiatives, Waldorf Astoria Ras Al Khaimah continues to redefine sustainability in luxury hospitality. Its participation in Green Ramadan 2025 reflects a deep-rooted dedication to eco-conscious gastronomy and sustainable practices, setting new benchmarks for the industry.
