Position Description:
We are looking for experienced SAFETY OFFICER for cruise vessel MITSUI OCEAN FUJI ready to join the vessel on 07/December/2024 - ( this is ex SEABOURN ODYSSEY )
Contract 3 months +/-1
Salary in USD/per month worked - will be advised upon interview.
The Safety Officer - EPIRB - SART - VHF units - See, Safety Officer's Monthly Maintenance.
1)LIFE SAVING
a)Lifeboats, life rafts and launchingdevices
b)Life jackets, thermal protection aids and immersion suit
c)Life buoys
2) FIRE DETECTION/FIRE FIGHTING
a)Fire alarms and detection systems
b)Sprinkler system
c)Permanent Smothering Systems
d)Semi-portable/Portable fire extinguishers
e)Fire Stations (hoses/hydrants etc.)
f)Fire doors and their controls
g)Fire dampers and their controls (OPEN/CLOSE position always to be clearly marked)
3) DAMAGE CONTROL
a) Water tight doors and their controls
4) GENERAL
a) The emergency generator and emergency lights in cooperation with Staff Engineer. The emergency lights must be marked with the letter"E" or a "Red" dot.
b) All fire and bilge pumps in cooperation with Staff Chief Engineer. Also the remote control of the submerged bilge pumps which must be always operational.
c) The public address system in cooperation with the Electronic Engineer, which system must be well heard in guests and crewmembers accommodation.
d) Takes care that all lifeboats are properly stocked with the equipment provisions and drinking water as described in the regulations. He also takes care that the life rafts are properly stowed.
e) Takes care that all crew and staff life jackets are marked with the word CREW made by luminescent material.
f) Updates as required the safety book and the safety plans.
g) Advises the Master and coordinates the Abandon Ship Drill which must be performed within two (2) hours of the ship leaving port or if feasible soon after departure from the port of embarkation within the first day of the trip.
h) All escapes must be clearly marked by arrows and signs which are made if needed by luminescent material. All escapes must be clear of any obstructions.
i) Organizes and supervises the training of the crew as far as safety is concerned and updates and prints the muster list. Provides all officers, staff and crew with mustering card and ensures that each one is well aware of his position and duties in case of emergency. Also the fire squad's crewmember must be well trained and familiar with their equipment.
j) All fire extinguishers must be properly charged and in their correct position as per safety plan.
k) All fire squadron rooms must be in good order with their equipment properly laid and well maintained.
l) All lockers situated within foyers and stairways must be free of combustible materials.
m) All air-conditioning rooms must be clear and free from any combustible material.
n) With the cooperation of the Staff Chief Engineer, all tele-controlled cut-off valves must be in good working order. All cut-off switches for A/C fans operated from the bridge must also be in good working order.
o) He is responsible for the proper operation of the PATROL WATCHES (where applicable) organizing night patrols, records of which are maintained daily, recorded and signed by the Staff Captain.
p) He must assist the Staff Captain in the preparation of the list of WATCHES in port for all departments, copy of which is also posted close to the embarkation door, officers and crew dining rooms, recreation room and bridge.
q) Timely preparation of list of stores and spares required for the ship's safety under his responsibility subject to Staff Captain's approval.
5) ACCIDENT OFFICER
The Safety Officer is the company's designated Accident Officer. As such he is responsible for the investigation of all guest and crew accidents.
