Job Description For IT OFFICER / CRYSTAL cruises
Position Description:
We are currently recruiting for experienced IT OFFICER for cruise vessel CRYSTAL SERENITYEmbarkation is ASAP
Salary in USD/per month worked on board.
Contract 3 months +/-1
Purpose Statement
- To provide maintenance and support for all non-marine servers, computers, network and users onboard the ship.
- To ensure that a six star service is provided at all times and to deal with complaints and comments in an efficient and timely manner.
Reports Directly to- Senior Information Technology Officer (Onboard)
Reporting Structure- Senior Information Technology Officer (Onboard)
General Responsibilities- To administer all system servers such as, but not limited to, Microsoft Windows Server, Hyper-V / ESX Virtualization, , Microsoft Failover Cluster,Vsphere, Active Directory Domain Server, Exchange Server, Microsoft SQL, Mcom Interactive TV system.
- To provide support to all shipboard computer users.
- To provide support for typical end-user software such as Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Suite.
- To provide support for ship's related application such as Amos, Adonis, Avenista, MXP, PMS, POS, Refman, SmartButler , Ving Vision & Gangway Tracking System, .
- To administer and monitor the SAN infrastructure, and escalate issues with HP Support when required.
- To support, maintain, diagnose and repair all non-marine servers, computers, POS, printers, ordering parts and service when necessary.
- To support, maintain, diagnose and repair keycard related software and hardware including handhelds, Evolis printers and encoders, ordering parts and service when necessary.
- To support, maintain, diagnose and repair all escalated CU@Sea hardware and software issues.
- To be available 24 hours a day to resolve urgent issues which may arise.
- To update Information Technology documentation for all procedure, process and application changes
- To maintain network LAN & Wi-Fi connectivity, administer Meru Wi-Fi equipment, optimize network/VLAN performance.
- To perform anti-virus maintenance.
- To maintain network file systems including security.
- To schedule/administer network file backups.
- To implement new computer systems and software as indicated by Crystal Cruises IT Department.
- To monitor and control inventory.
- To retrieve customized data as required.
- To monitor satellite connection and bandwidth QoS . To report any satellite connection failures to the Electronic Engineer.
- To set up and breakdown check-in laptops / Mobile Devices, keycard printers and magnetic swipe readers on embarkation day.
- To clean and organize the storage lockers - prepare list of discards and send it to Crystal Cruises IT Department for approval after which items can be discarded.
- To be the point of contact for Wireless Maritime Services (WMS) issues.
- To provide any information requested by Crystal Cruises IT Department in a timely manner.
- To implement any computer related procedures, policies, security or standards set by Crystal Cruises IT Department.
- To monitor the IT Department inventory and lockers and to ensure that they are all kept neat and tidy and in accordance to safety rules and regulations.
- To prepare and submit Consumable requisitions for the IT Office.
- To complete tasks as assigned by the Senior IT Officer.
- To ensure that any Maintenance issues in work areas are reported in AIMS in a timely manner and that the work orders are followed up on accordingly.
- To request assistance by CCI IT submitting a Jira.
- To complete work and rest hours on daily basis. To submit on monthly basis printed timesheet to the Sr. IT Officer.
- To adhere to all Company Policies and Procedures, Manuals and Directives.
- To attend Captain's Welcome/Farewell Cocktail Parties, Singles Parties, Crystal Society Cocktail Parties and any other functions as per Cocktail list received from Crystal Cruises IT Department.
- Other responsibilities, as assigned, but not limited to the above.
Financial Responsibilities
- To monitor and maintain current, ongoing PC and printer inventory.
- To assist in purchasing of required hardware/software by providing correct specifications.
- To be cost conscious with the use of office supplies and other consumables.
- To ensure that Company property is maintained properly and treated with respect at all times.
Safety Responsibilities- To practice Safe Lifting Techniques at all times.
- To do In Port Manning duties as scheduled and as required by Company policy.
- Emergency Duties:
- To follow instructions on Safety Card.
- To participate in Guest/Crew Lifeboat Drills as per instructions.
- Persons in this position may be required to be a Life Boat or Life Raft Commander or 2nd Commander and should therefore undergo a Life Boat/Life Raft Commander Course to obtain the appropriate certificate (Training Manual Appendix 1).
- Other safety responsibilities, as assigned, but not limited to the above.
Education/Position Requirements- Must have proficient skills in all aspects of PC's including software applications as well as hardware.
- Must have working knowledge of networking applications not exclusive to the latest Microsoft Windows Server, Active Directory Administration, Microsoft Exchange Server, SQL Server, Microsoft Failover Cluster, Hyper-V Virtualization and SAN technologies, TCP/IP network troubleshooting.
- Must be able to provide user support on Windows OS, Microsoft Office Suite, job related applications, printer/scanner configuration.
- Must have in depth knowledge of the Virtualization Technology, VSphere / Hyper V as admin and support level.
- Must possess good knowledge on SAN and modern storage technologies.
- Must be able to diagnose computer hardware problem, replace parts as needed.
- Must be able to troubleshoot network communication issues.
- Must be physically able to lift 40lbs (a monitor, a computer, equipment etc.).
- Experience including at least one (1) year in an internal technical support position.
- Must be fluent in written and spoken English (needs to score at least 80% in the onboard English proficiency test).
- Excellent interpersonal and public communication skills.
- Very good organizational skills are necessary along with the ability to multi-task.
- Must possess the ability to interact with all levels of people.
- In depth Crystal Basics knowledge and understanding.
- Must be able to remain calm under pressure.
- Must be service minded with an outgoing, charming and friendly personality.
Team Communication and Meetings- To communicate with the Senior IT Officer on a regular basis.
- To ensure Chief Electrical Engineer is informed regarding any significant computer issues or projects.
- To attend Engineering/Information Technology Meetings.
- To communicate with shore-side Crystal Cruises IT Department on a regular basis.
