Job Description For 3rd OFFICER / CRYSTAL cruises
Position Description:
We are currently recruiting for experienced 3rd OFFICER for cruise vessel CRYSTAL SYMPHONYEmbarkation 12/January/2025
Salary in USD/per month worked on board.
Contract 4 months +/-1
Deck Department Responsibility 1 "Stability" for:
- During the assigned watch hours ensuring that the vessel maintains draught, trim and adequate stability in compliance with:
- If required, calculate departure / arrival stability
Deck Department Responsibility 23 "Bridge Watch keeping" for:- keeping bridge watches as required and identified by the Master in accordance with section 4.1.3 Bridge Watchkeeping
- the completion of 20 minutes rounds after the watch (as might be specified in the Masters Standing Orders), including those areas that are necessary for ensuring the safety, security and good order of the vessel, her crew and passengers.
Deck Department Responsibility 24 "Mooring stations" for:- attending mooring stations as instructed by the Staff Captain
- supervising crew assigned to mooring stations and ensuring that mooring operations are conducted in accordance with the advice in the Code of Safe Working Practice
Deck Department Responsibility 25 "Tender operations" for:- assisting in tendering operations as required by the Staff Captain
Deck Department Responsibility 26 "Communications" for:- GMDSS and radio traffic operation
Deck Department Responsibility 27 "Permit To Work System" for:- the operation of the permit to work system
Ship specific responsibilities:- Third Officer is a part of the dual watch keeping system either as a Navigator or as a CO-Navigator but they can never have the charge at sea. Third Officer can be the sole watch-keeper on the Bridge while alongside in port or at anchor.
- While OOW at anchor and when in operation they shall monitor tender operations, weather and sea. Any changes in condition should be alerted to the Captain.
- Third Officer must be familiar with all bridge equipment, bridge alarm systems and bridge operations in order to perform all related tasks as a Navigator or Co-Navigator.
- Third Officer shall monitor and acknowledge the OOW Navigational decisions by using the closed loop system and must challenge any decision they are not comfortable with.
- Third Officer is to be familiar with the voyage plan and the Captain's standing and specific orders.
- Assisting Chief Officer Safety with inspections and maintenance of fire-fighting equipment.
- Monthly inspection of Fire Extinguishers and Foam applicators
- Monthly inspection of FSD
- Weekly inspection and charging of thermal imaging camera
- Weekly and monthly inspection of EEBD
- Informing Chief Officer of any deficiencies found.
- Other duties as assigned by the Staff Captain.
- During the refurbishment period, assist First Officer Safety with his/her responsibilities.
