Position Description:
We are looking for experienced 2nd ENGINEER ( watch keeper ) for cruise vessel MITSUI OCEAN FUJI ready to join the vessel ASAP
Contract 4 months +/1
Salary in USD/per month worked - will be advised upon interview.
- The EWO shall ensure that the established watch keeping arrangements are maintained. Under his general direction engine room ratings, if forming part of the watch, shall be required to assist in the safe and efficient operation of the propulsion machinery and the auxiliary equipment.
- The EWO shall require additional personnel assistance to maintain the safe operations of the ship at any time during his watch when any significant malfunction or abnormality continues to occur in the machinery or monitoring system.
- Under the direction of the Staff-Chief Engineer and Chief Engineer, the EWO of the watch shall be responsible for the inspection, operation and testing, as required, of all machinery and equipment under his responsibility.
- Responsible for keeping the Staff-Chief Engineer and Chief Engineer advised regarding the material status of the vessel and assigned equipment.
- Ensures that at all times, bridge orders relating to changes in speed or direction are immediately implemented.
- The Engineer Officer in charge of the watch shall immediately notify the bridge in the event of:
• Fire
• Impending actions in the machinery spaces that may cause reduction in ship's speed.
• Imminent steering gear failure.
• Stoppage of the ship's propulsion system.
• Alteration in the generation of electric power.
• Any malfunction to the delivery and/or equipment that might result to pollution.
- Serves as damage control officer of the ship.
- Executes all preventive maintenance, voyage and emergency repairs to the vessel as per Staff Engineer orders.
- Assists the Staff-Chief Engineer with the preparation of shipyard job specifications.
- Supervises his watch or working engineering team.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION
- 2nd Engineer's License
- Maintain current STCW certification.
- Completed Advanced Fire-Fighting training.
- General knowledge skills applicable to the various systems on board Company's vessels.
- Ability to interpret ship's plans and prints, draw engineering plans and prepare job orders.
- Good communication skills.
- Ability to plan projects, assign priorities, resolve problems and to work without supervision.
- Ability to supervise others.
- Good English.
- Solid professional ethics.
- Well-tempered and good mannered.

• While performing the duties of this job, the shipboard employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to touch, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk or hear; and taste or smell. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus
• Extensive travel from ship to ship with varying accommodations and resting opportunities require good health. Active management of health through diet and exercise is a key for prolonged success in the position
• All shipboard employees must be physically able to participate in emergency lifesaving procedures and drills. Full use and range of arms and legs as well as full visual, verbal and hearing abilities are required to receive and give instructions in the event of an emergency including the lowering of lifeboats. The employee must have the ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
