The Westin Singapore is pleased to announce the executive appointment of James Walkden as General Manager. James will spearhead the operations and business strategies of the hotel as well as strengthen the brand position as the pre-eminent wellness hotel in Singapore.
A passionate hotelier with over 30 years of experience in the hospitality industry, James brings with him a wealth of experience from some of the most renowned international hotel groups such as Hilton, Four Seasons, Starwood, and Marriott International.
A British national with a strong background in Food and Beverage, James started his career with Hilton before moving to Sydney, Australia in 2000. He then moved to Asia in 2010 where he held the Hotel Manager position at W Hong Kong. James is also no stranger to the Westin brand, having previously held key positions at The Westin Sydney and as General Manager of The Westin Xi’an. In his most recent role, he was the Marriott International Area Director of Operations, Australia, New Zealand, and the Pacific, a position he held for more than five years.
Recently relocated from Australia to the Lion City, James enjoys traveling and immersing in new cultures, unwinding at the gym, and spending quality time with family and friends.
