Solmar Foundation Pledges to Support Employees and Vulnerable Local Communities in Cabo San Lucas Amid Covid-19
Food packages, basic hygienic products and awareness brigades are part of Solmar Foundation's actions to address the needs of its employees and the community of Baja California Sur during the coronavirus pandemic.
Los Cabos, Mexico (May 14, 2020) Through its Solmar Foundation, an organization focused on supporting Los Cabos women and children living in poverty through community programs, Solmar Hotels Resorts is proud to announce it has provided local communities with more than 2,000 aid packages since the COVID-19 pandemic hit the destination. The Los Cabos hotelier has guaranteed to continue to pay a salary to each employee during the closure of its seven properties, as well as to continuously deliver care packages with supplies to employees and those in need.
Solmar Foundation has delivered more than 2,000 packages with food and basic products to hotel employees and vulnerable communities in Baja California amid the spread of the novel coronavirus. As part of the BCS Community Alliance and the Mexican Navy, delivery of the care packages began on April 3. To carry out the deliveries, Solmar Foundation has received support from a select group of volunteers who, following strict health safety protocols, get together to prepare thousands of packages with basic necessities, including vegetable oil, natural spring water, sugar, canned beans, canned tuna, cookies, salt, coffee, soap, toilet paper, toothpaste and toothbrush, powdered detergent, chlorine, multipurpose cleaner, microfiber towels, pet food and more. Moreover, 500 packages have been distributed to beneficiaries with extreme needs included in the foundation's census that includes single mothers, people with disabilities or terminal illnesses and first responders, such as firefighters and medical personnel.
To better provide for employees and those in vulnerable local communities, Solmar Hotels Resorts has pledged to match every dollar donated. Thanks to the support of the donations of guests and partners of Grupo Solmar, more than $25,000 dollars have been collected for this health emergency.
The Solmar Foundation offers support and assistance to more than thirty local charities that provide medical care, education, and other essential social services to more than 2,000 families, women, children and elderly people living in permanent poverty. Thanks to the support of donations from guests and partners, more than $25,000 USD have been raised to date and the Los Cabos hotelier will continue to double the amount raised. All donations are tax deductible and can be made through the official website. For more information, visit www.solmarfoundation.com.
