Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts Appoints Ahmed Issa as New General Manager
Ahmed’s extensive hospitality experience enables him to bring a wealth of knowledge and expertise to his new role
Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts announces the promotion of Ahmed Issa to the position of cluster general manager of both Shangri-La Hotel, Qaryat Al Beri, Abu Dhabi and Traders Hotel, Qaryat Al Beri, Abu Dhabi.
Ahmed has worked in the hospitality industry for more than 30 years, 15 of which have been spent with the Shangri-La group. His extensive experience in food and beverage operations within five-star luxury hotels led him to being a part of the pre-opening team at the Shangri‑La hotels in Dubai and Abu Dhabi.
At Traders Hotel, Qaryat Al Beri, Abu Dhabi, Ahmed provided his leadership and strategic planning to all departments in support of its service culture, maximised operations and guest satisfaction. In addition to overseeing the operations of 301 rooms, he also successfully repositioned the hotel’s food and beverage outlets by helping execute new dining concepts that aligned with the interests of the capital’s residents.
Under his expert leadership, the food-and-beverage and operations teams at Shangri-La Hotel, Qaryat Al Beri, Abu Dhabi have garnered multiple hospitality awards, including “Best in Class Restaurant” for Sofra bld., Bord Eau, Shang Palace and Hoi An.
As a cluster general manager, Ahmed is responsible for directing and evaluating the day-to-day operational activities of both hotels to achieve the highest standards in accordance with the operational goals and profitability objectives.
This includes guest and employee satisfaction, human resources, financial performance, sales and revenue generation and delivering a return on investment.
