Sabir Ali Shaikh Receives Judges Choice Award for Promising Chef of the Year at the Middle East Chef Excellence Awards 2024

Sabir Ali Shaikh, Assistant Pastry Chef at Bab Al Qasr, has been honored with the Judges Choice Promising Chef of the Year award at the 7th Middle East Chef Excellence Awards 2024. The prestigious accolade was presented during a grand gala ceremony held on June 7 at the JW Marriott Dubai Marina, organized by Hozpitality Group. Manoj Abraham Mathew from Dubai Media Group presented the award alongside Raj Bhatt, CEO of Hozpitality Group.
Sabir Ali Shaikh's career reflects his exceptional talent and dedication to the culinary arts. Currently serving as the Assistant Pastry Chef at Bab Al Qasr in Abu Dhabi, Shaikh has been pivotal in delivering outstanding pastry creations and maintaining high standards in the hotel's culinary operations. His role involves overseeing the pastry kitchen's daily operations, ensuring the quality and consistency of pastries, and contributing to menu development.
Prior to his current position, Shaikh was the Cluster Pastry In-Charge at Novotel, Ibis, and Adagio in Fujairah from November 2021 to December 2023. In this role, he managed the pastry operations across three hotels, which included overseeing the creation of various pastry items for the hotel's dining outlets and banquets. The hotels, known for their modern amenities and exceptional convention facilities, benefited greatly from Shaikh's expertise in pastry arts.
Shaikh's experience also includes notable positions such as Chef de Partie Pastry at Marjan Island Resort & Spa and Novotel World Trade Centre Dubai, where he honed his skills in high-pressure environments. At Marjan Island Resort & Spa, he contributed to the resort's culinary excellence by producing innovative pastry creations and ensuring the smooth operation of the pastry kitchen.
His career began at Novotel Suite & Ibis Mall of the Emirates, where he worked as Demi Chef de Partie Pastry, gaining valuable experience in pastry production and kitchen management.
Shaikh's educational background includes a craft course in food production from the Central Institute of Hotel Management and Catering, which provided him with foundational skills in culinary arts. He also completed a computer course with a focus on professional development.
