Rixos Marina Abu Dhabi to Host the Next Edition of ‘Ride with Rixos’ this April in Partnership with Make-A-Wish Foundation UAE

Abu Dhabi, UAE (16^th April 2025): In honour of World Wish Day, celebrated annually on April 29^th to commemorate the founding of Make-A-Wish Foundation, Rixos Marina Abu Dhabi will host a special edition of ‘Ride with Rixos’ on April 26^th. Organised in collaboration with Make-A-Wish Foundation UAE, the event invites the community to come together in support of a cause that brings hope and strength to children facing critical illnesses. Always committed to championing meaningful causes and fostering a spirit of community, this edition of the ride also honours the incredible resilience of the children and families whose lives have been touched by the foundation.

Starting at 6:45 AM, participants will gather at the front entrance of Rixos Marina Abu Dhabi for a pre-ride briefing and an energising warm-up session. At 7:15 AM, the 20km scenic cycling route along Abu Dhabi’s iconic Corniche will begin, offering riders a meaningful way to do their part for the community, all while enjoying the fresh morning air and breathtaking coastal views.

Upon reaching the finish line, riders will be welcomed back to Rixos Marina Abu Dhabi, where they can enjoy an array of refreshments and the property’s renowned Turkish hospitality. A post-ride stretching session will then be available at the wellness area, followed by a breakfast gathering, allowing participants to engage with fellow riders, share their experiences, and celebrate their contribution to the cause.

‘Ride with Rixos’ is a growing community-driven initiative that promotes wellness and social impact through cycling. Since its inception on World Bicycle Day in June 2023, the event has gained remarkable momentum, welcoming nearly 800 participants across its five editions to date. Each ride supports a meaningful cause, with past editions held in partnership with organisations such as Friends of Cancer Patients and The Pink Caravan, championing health awareness and charitable giving.

Make-A-Wish Foundation UAE is proud to be one of the affiliates of Make-A-Wish International. Established in the United Arab Emirates in 2010, the foundation is officially registered under the Department of Community Development. Since its inception, Make-A-Wish UAE has granted over 7,600 wishes for children suffering from critical illnesses, bringing hope, strength, and joy during some of their most difficult moments.

The Make-A-Wish Foundation story began in 1980, inspired by the wish of a seven-year-old boy named Christopher Greicius, who wished to become a police officer while bravely battling leukaemia. His wish sparked a global movement that has since granted more than 500,000 life-changing wishes to children with critical illnesses in nearly 50 countries around the world. Now celebrating its 45th anniversary on World Wish Day, Make-A-Wish continues to deliver inspiration and emotional strength to children and their families when they need it most.

Through initiatives like ‘Ride with Rixos’, Make-A-Wish Foundation UAE continues its mission to bring joy to children fighting critical illnesses, while encouraging the community to come together in support of a truly meaningful cause. By taking part, riders play a small but powerful role in helping to make more wishes come true, showcasing the incredible impact of collective kindness and compassion.
