Rediscover Authentic Emirati Culture and Cuisine this Ramadan with Fairmont Fujairah Beach Resort
The Suhoor Majlis hosts Emirati cultural session every Thursday during the holy month
Dubai, UAE, April 2019 – With the arrival of the holy month of Ramadan, many traditions and practices are revived, while familial relations and old friendships rekindle to reconnect over a time of peace accompanied by delicious food. Rediscover Emirati culture, traditions and home-style dishes at Fairmont Fujairah Beach Resort during Iftar at Canvas, as well as cultural sessions evoking beautiful memories of Emirati heritage at the hotel’s Thamella Hall converted into a traditional Emirati majlis during Suhoor.
Inspired by Arab culture and local Emirati tastes, the Iftar buffet at Canvas will feature the best of traditional Emirati dishes. The star of the Iftar will be the famous Ouzi, which is the UAE’s national dish. This complete meal consists of roasted lamb served on top of a bed of rice, topped with vegetables and nuts and covered with Regag bread. Other culinary favourites such as Harees, Machboos and Thereed will be beautifully served at craving stations.
To end the meal on a sweet note, Emirati cuisine boasts a variety of colourful and aromatic desserts featuring exotic and spice-rich traditional flavours. From the iconic Cardamom-flavoured Luqaimat and saffron-rich puddings, to traditional Chebab, an Emirati version of pancakes served with drizzles of sweet date syrup, diners will be sure to yearn for that distinctive taste. Decades of history culminates in the all-time favourite Khameer; bread made with saffron, hints of turmeric and served with local honey and cheese. A dedicated station will be a showcase of different varieties of dates including ones stuffed with different nuts and fruits.
Expressing the generosity of Arabian hospitality, Thamella Hall, fitted out in the style of a traditional Majlis offers a quiet ambience, comfortable seating and warm colours and creates an inviting atmosphere that will allow guests to chat and discuss different topics during Suhoor. Every Thursday, the Majlis will host an Emirati heritage expert to talk about Fujairah’s historical sites, Emirati cuisine, fishing heritage of the UAE and Eid traditions. In this authentic ambiance, guests can choose their Suhoor from an à la carte menu of Pan-Arabian entrées, grilled dishes and the most decadent of desserts, all complemented with a selection of exquisite shisha flavours.
Iftar is priced at AED 165 per adult and AED 85 per child. Children below six dine for free. Iftar will be served daily from sunset until 9:00 pm, and Suhoor tent is open from7:30 pm to 2:00 am.
Bookings before April 15 can avail a 15% discount on Iftar. Bookings for groups of 10 people will get one complimentary Iftar.
