Porter Airlines Launches New Toronto-Pearson to Thunder Bay Route with Enhanced Aircraft
Starting October 16, 2024, Porter Airlines will offer three roundtrips per week, enhancing connectivity and passenger capacity by over 10% for flights to Thunder Bay
Porter Airlines is expanding its route network with a new service between Toronto Pearson International Airport (YYZ) and Thunder Bay International Airport (YQT), utilizing its state-of-the-art Embraer E195-E2 aircraft. This route, starting October 16, 2024, will offer three roundtrips per week, enhancing connectivity and passenger capacity by over 10% for flights to Thunder Bay.
Porter Airlines has been a key player in Thunder Bay since 2009, providing up to five daily roundtrips from Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport and twice daily flights from Ottawa with its 78-seat Dash 8-400 aircraft. The new service will increase options for travelers, with flights initially scheduled as follows:
October 16 - October 26, 2024
- YYZ-YQT: 7:05 a.m. (Wednesday, Friday, Sunday)
- YQT-YYZ: 9:55 a.m. (Wednesday, Friday, Sunday)
October 27, 2024 - Winter 2025
- YYZ-YQT: 7:20 a.m. (Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday)
- YQT-YYZ: 10:10 a.m. (Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday)
Passengers will experience Porter’s enhanced economy class on the 132-seat Embraer E195-E2, which features no middle seats, complimentary beer and wine served in glassware, premium snacks, and fast, free WiFi.
Kevin Jackson, President of Porter Airlines, emphasized the significance of the new service: “This expansion will increase our passenger capacity in Thunder Bay by over 10%, offering more travel options and maintaining competitive fares. We look forward to growing this route as we introduce more E195-E2 aircraft next year.”
Porter is currently the largest airline serving Thunder Bay, connecting to three major Canadian airports.
