Polish national takes on his first role in Asia to lead The Andaman Resort, Langkawi
LANGKAWI, KEDAH, MALAYSIA – January 2020: Marriott International, Inc. is pleased to announce the appointment of Piotr Madej as the new General Manager of The Andaman, a Luxury Collection Resort, Langkawi. Piotr brings a wealth of operational as well as Sales and Marketing experiences to this exciting new role where he will oversee all management functions at the resort and will be instrumental in driving further revenue growth and guest satisfaction while maintaining The Andaman’s status as one of Langkawi’s leading resorts.
With over 18 years of hotel management experience, Piotr had worked across Europe before taking the role of the Executive Assistant Manager of a Luxury Collection hotel in Warsaw, Hotel Bristol, where he was in-charge of leading the day to day operations and developing guest satisfaction strategies.
The Andaman Resort marks Piotr’s second Luxury Collection property in his journey within Marriott International. “The Luxury Collection is a very interesting brand that truly defines the destination. Arriving at The Andaman, I am awed to learn about the indigenous experiences and representation that the property is already offering and there is so much more that we can offer to the global explorers staying with us,” says Piotr.
The stunning resort that’s set between a 10-million-year-old rainforest and the exquisite Datai Bay is also Piotr’s first assignment in Asia. “Malaysia has always been one of the dream destinations that I planned on visiting and Langkawi is a perfect destination to start with,” adds Piotr. “I’ve heard great things, particularly the people and so far, everything has been true. Upon arrival, I was welcomed with so much hospitality that I felt like as if I was coming home.”
With Piotr’s decades worth of hospitality experiences in managing and leading the management team in providing exceptional service and driving revenue as well as profit, Piotr aims to bring The Andaman further in the market, by leveraging on the settings of the resort. “The Andaman is already known for the impeccable service provided by the team that makes every stay memorable but I believe there is so much more that we can offer, especially wellness experiences within the rainforest that will set us apart from the other resorts in Langkawi. During his free time, Piotr enjoys running, riding a bicycle and swimming as he believes a good amount of sports will release enough endorphins to reenergize and to create a positive outlook in life.
