Dubai, UAE - Those looking to steer clear of all things Cupid-related, needn’t look any further than the welcoming embrace of Urban bar & kitchen, or [u]bk, as it has affectionately come to be known.
JLT’s much-loved, vibrant venue is setting things straight this February, and offering guests the chance to experience a much less idealistic, far more realistic, taste of the modern Valentine’s Day.
The tongue in cheek tone for the evening will be set on entry, as diners are presented with "single", "maybe" or "taken" buttons for those who are ready to mingle or not. Part of the fun of the night is to ensure that none of the airs and graces of the traditional Valentine’s make their way into the venue, set to be void of all things red and floral.
Guests can savour ‘love on the rocks’, ‘Cupid killer’ and ‘mind eraser’, which are examples of the aptly themed beverages on offer (and not a cry for help). The only cheese to be had on the 14th at [u]bk, can be found in the food, as diners can tuck into tempting nibbles. These include the “Chick please”, a crispy chicken taco roll, garnished with fresh guacamole, sour cream and tomato salsa, as well as the “Fried Heart”, a piqant take on shrimp and cheese fries, drizzled with a ranch dressing, amongst others. The occasion appropriate menu can be enjoyed throughout the day, with prices starting at AED 55.
Given that the occasion falls on a Thursday, guests can delight in the pun-tastic menu, flavour packed dishes and chance to grab a picture using the ‘Tinder Profile’ frames, well into the night, as they celebrate a truly unique (anti)Valentine’s Day.
