Chef Nick Alvis was granted a 10-year golden visa.
01 November 2021, Dubai, United Arab Emirates: The Organization of Residence Permits for Investors, Entrepreneurs and Professional Talent has granted local chef Nick Alvis with a 10-year golden visa. Recognised for his commitment to and development of the restaurant industry across the United Arab Emirates, Alvis has created some of the region's most popular homegrown restaurant concepts with the support of Hilton Worldwide, Spinney's and most recently Gates Hospitality.
Alvis, who has been a resident of the UAE since 2010 comments;"It's an honour to be presented with a golden visa in a city that is forever filled with innovation and boundary-breaking pioneers. I arrived in Dubai more than a decade ago with only my chef whites and knives - I never dreamed I would call this place my home, let alone be rewarded for my work. I will always be committed to pushing the regions FB scene as well as nurturing and developing young talent who aspire to work in hospitality".
In 2019, the UAE implemented a new system for long-term residence visas. The new system enables foreigners to live, work and study in the UAE without the need of a national sponsor and with 100 percent ownership of their business on the UAEs mainland. These visas will be issued for 5 or 10 years and will be renewed automatically.
