Naved Shaikh has been honored as one of Hozpitality's Best 30 Most Popular Engineering Leaders in the Middle East for 2023. With over 15 years of industry experience, Shaikh currently serves as the Director of Engineering at Taj Dubai, where he has been making significant contributions since 2014.
Shaikh is a highly skilled engineering professional with a strong passion for sustainability and nature preservation. Throughout his career, he has been recognized for his exceptional efforts in improving environmental practices within the hospitality industry. As the leader of a team of 21 associates, Shaikh has achieved remarkable cost savings and energy conservation results. His expertise in optimizing district cooling systems has led to significant utility cost reductions.
Shaikh's commitment to sustainability has earned him prestigious accolades. In 2019, he was honored with the 'D.T.C.M. Sustainability Champion Awards,' and in 2021, he was recognized as a runner-up in the 'Hotel Engineer of the Year' category at the Hotelier Middle East Awards. Prior to joining Taj Dubai, Shaikh played a crucial role in obtaining Earth Check certification for four Taj hotels, with Blue Sydney, a Taj Hotel, achieving Gold certification status in 2014. His efforts in energy conservation have been internationally recognized, with Shaikh claiming government rebates in energy savings during his work in Australia.
Shaikh's dedication to excellence in engineering and sustainability has been acknowledged through various prestigious awards, including the Taj Award for Business Excellence. Notably, he spearheaded the development of a roof-top helipad and helipad lounge at Taj Wellington Mews in Mumbai, India. Additionally, his exemplary work in a rainwater-harvesting project resulted in a remarkable saving of 1315 KL of rainwater per month per season.
Shaikh holds a degree in Electrical Engineering from N.M.U. University in India, where he achieved an impressive score of 69% in his final year. He has further enhanced his qualifications through a Diploma in Electrical Engineering from the Mumbai Board, India, and a certificate of completion of the Basic P.L.C. course in Industrial Automation at C.I.C.C. Training Centre, Mumbai, India.
