Muhammad Ramzan among Hozpitality's Best 30 Most Popular Engineering Leaders in the Middle East for 2023

Ramzan has a background in Mechanical technology academics. Soon after graduation, he started working in the hospitality industry. A humble beginning in 1998 as an HVAC supervisor in one of the hotels in Pakistan. Ramzan also had the opportunity to work internationally in the Gulf region with different hotel brands. With years of hard work and dedication, Ramzan climbed the ladder of success to becoming corporate director of technical services in one of the leading hospitality groups (Hashoo Group), managing 28 operational properties and ten pipelined hotel properties across the country.

Ramzan returned to Dubai as Cluster Director of Engineering with the Hilton group managing five properties in Al Seef, Business Bay, and JBR. I have had the privilege of witnessing firsthand the exemplary leadership and remarkable contributions that Muhammad Ramzan has made in the field of engineering within the hospitality industry. Muhammad Ramzan is responsible for five Hilton properties, including the Al Seef cluster, DoubleTree Hilton Business Bay, and Tapestry by Hilton, which will open soon. Having a diversified portfolio of these properties requires strong leadership, and Muhammad Ramzan has proven to be a great asset. Technical Expertise and Innovation: With a deep understanding of engineering principles and a keen awareness of emerging technologies, Muhammad Ramzan continually pushes the boundaries of innovation in the hospitality industry. His technical prowess enables them to identify and implement cutting-edge solutions that optimize operational efficiency, enhance guest experiences, and drive industry advancements.

Muhamad Ramzan has worked on projects in these five properties, including renovation, rectification, and keeping the property QA score above 90%. Ramzan believes in sustainable engineering, and some of his projects, such as reducing cooling or heating loss, conservative water projects, and carbon emission reduction, were on the top list. Ramzan has made a Solar PV vision live in the Double Tree Hilton property, and the rest hotels are pipelined. 

Ramzan is a strong advocate for ethical and sustainable engineering practices within the company. He prioritizes environmental responsibility, implementing energy-efficient solutions, and promoting sustainability initiatives that reduce the organization's ecological footprint.

• Ramzan is the leader of the property's sustainability team, explicitly aiming towards net zero carbon emission, reducing water consumption and waste reduction at the property level. Having energy audit and implementing energy efficiency projects is one of his key focus. Recently, the hotel installed solar PV at the property as one of his goals to reduce carbon emissions, and the solar project aims to reduce 1,974 MT of CO2. Which has the same effect on Co2 emissions as reducing consumption of 14,596 barrels2 of crude oil or planting 2,461 trees3. The sustainable project includes the VFD installation, changing the LED lights at BOH from high wattage to low wattage, which brings the savings of 197K AED/Annum, where energy saving is equivalent to a reduction of236K kgs of CO2

• Similarly, Ramzan reduced the utility consumption of 763K AED at Al Seef cluster Hilton Hotels in 2022, and YTD savings are 14% for 2023 (Compared to 2022). Ramzan has successfully installed heat pumps in the Al Seef cluster by aiming energy reduction of 250K AED with a lucrative ROI of 14 months.

Ramzan strongly advocates waste reduction and has introduced practices that resulted in a 39.1% of waste reduction in 2022 at DoubleTree Hilton Business Bay.
