Manga Hotels Expands Western Canadian Presence with Acquisition of Residence Inn by Marriott in Downtown Calgary
The 390-suite Residence Inn Calgary joins Manga Hotels' growing portfolio, further solidifying the company's footprint in Calgary and enhancing its diverse property offerings across Canada.
Opened in 2019, the 33-storey Residence Inn Calgary in the Beltline District stands as the world's largest Residence Inn with 390 suites. The hotel features on-site dining options, including the Hearth Room and Stable Tenth Avenue Café and Cocktail Bar. Guests can enjoy a full breakfast buffet, a coffee bar that transitions into a cocktail lounge, and a farm-to-table dining experience.
With over 7,000 square feet of meeting spaces spread across seven rooms, the hotel provides panoramic city views, making it an ideal venue for corporate events or social gatherings. The hotel’s strategic location and modern amenities cater to both leisure and business travelers.
Manga Hotels continues its expansion in diverse Canadian markets, recently acquiring the Hilton Garden Inn and Homewood Suites by Hilton in downtown Calgary in June 2024. "As we continue to expand, we are excited to further establish our presence in Western Canada with the addition of a third hotel in Calgary, bringing over 700 rooms into our portfolio," stated Sukhdev Toor, President and CEO of Manga Hotels. “This property exemplifies the best of Marriott's extended stay brand and serves as a flagship hotel in our collection.”
With this acquisition, Manga Hotels now owns eight Marriott properties totaling 1,800 rooms. As one of Canada's largest privately-owned hospitality companies, Manga specializes in acquiring, developing, and managing high-quality residences and hotels. The company's portfolio spans 31 hotels with 5,800 rooms, with an additional 1,250 rooms in development, and includes independent properties as well as hotels affiliated with renowned brands such as Marriott, Hilton, IHG, and Hyatt across Canada and the U.S. In addition to its hospitality ventures, Manga is developing five high-rise residential rental projects with over 2,000 units and 2,200 low-rise houses in the Greater Toronto Area.
