RAS AL KHAIMAH, UAE. – September 2019 - Waldorf Astoria Ras Al Khaimah the award winning luxury resort, positioned on the serene shores of the Arabian Sea, has introduced two new sustainability initiatives:
Eradication of plastic bottles in all outside areas -
Earlier this year, Hilton announced that it fulfilled its commitment to eliminate the use of plastic straws from its UAE hotels. Plastic bottles used in meetings and event spaces have also been removed. From the end of April, Waldorf Astoria Ras Al Khaimah will take additional steps to reduce single use plastic consumption by implementing an initiative to completely eradicate plastic bottles from the hotel’s outside, pool, beach and recreational areas. Plastic bottles will be replaced with water stations offering guests a variety of chilled water flavoured with fresh fruits and vegetables, served from sustainable glass containers into reusable and eco-friendly cups. The initiative will be fully operational by the end of 2019 and will look to reduce the hotels plastic waste by up to 5 tons annually. Practise your swing and save the fishes -
Guests can now practice their swing whilst helping to promote Ras Al Khamiah’s marine life. At Waldorf Astoria Ras Al Khaimah’s costal driving range guests can hit ‘eco golf balls’ into the sea. The golf balls are made up of biodegradable ingredients which dissolves into fish food, which help to support and promote local wildlife. Available daily, the ‘eco golf balls’ can be purchased for 15AED.
Both initiatives are aligned with Hilton’s commitment to double its social impact investment and cut its environmental impact in half by 2030.
