Dubai, United Arab Emirates, 6th November 2019: As Dubai Fitness Challenge (DFC) 2019 hits the halfway mark, there’s still plenty to get involved in as the 30-day challenge takes fitness to a new level. With a plethora of citywide fitness and wellness events, sessions and activities to choose from until 16 November, DFC 2019 provides Dubai’s residents and visitors with an opportunity to dedicate themselves to a healthier and fitter lifestyle.
Transforming the city into a gym has been taken one step further with DFC’s newest event, Dubai Run 30x30 on Sheikh Zayed Road, which will see Dubai’s iconic highway turn into a running track. Taking place on Friday 8 November, the free-to-attend run marks the first time the public will be allowed to run on a section of the road, and aims to encourage the city to get active together. Pre-registration on PlatinumList is required for all participants looking to take part in the 5km course (open to all ages and abilities) or the 10km run (for runners 18 years and older who will need to complete the distance in 80 minutes or less).
DFC’s free-to-attend Fitness Villages are the perfect opportunity to spend time with your friends and family while being active. The Festival City Mall Fitness Village presented by DEWA in association with Fitbit & Al-Futtaim, opens from 12pm to 10pm from Sunday to Wednesday and 12pm to 12am from Thursday to Saturday, and features many exciting zones appealing to people of all ages and fitness abilities. All those taking part in the 2-hour skill-based challenge at the DEWA 30X30 Skills Zone have a chance to win daily prizes and a grand prize of AED 50,000 in Dubai Festival City gift cards. Participants can also help Fitbit record 1 billion steps over 30 days at the Fitbit Fitness One and Fitbit AI Zone. Work outs in the fresh air at the IMAGINE Fitness Workout in partnership with Fitness First are also available, or rent a bicycle at the Dubai Chamber Cycling Hub to ride to the Dubai Chamber Beach Sports Zone at Marsa Beach from 3pm to 7pm.
Kite Beach Fitness Village presented by ENOC in association with Etisalat and Meraas, which opens from 7am to 9pm from Saturday to Wednesday and 7am to 11pm from Thursday and Friday, is where you can join in a variety of instructor-led workout sessions at the Etisalat Mainstage, tackle muddy obstacles at the ENOC Mudder Village, find your zen at the Emirates’ Yoga and Meditation Zone, or enjoy the waves while working out the Bridgestone Open Beach Gym. To refresh yourself after working out, head to the MonViso hydration booths or the Pocari Sweat Metabolic Booster Bar located within the Village.
