Hormuzdyr Gabba, General Manager of Welcomhotel by ITC Hotels, Devee Grand Bay, Visakhapatnam, has been honored with a prestigious spot in Hozpitality's esteemed Best 30 General Managers in India power list for 2024.
Hormuzdyr Gabba oversees the renowned 104-room Welcomhotel by ITC Hotels, Devee Grand Bay in Visakhapatnam. Known for its old-world charm, culinary excellence, and exceptional service, the landmark hotel recently underwent a significant renovation in 2023. Gabba's leadership is marked by excellent team management, quality service delivery, and high employee motivation and guest satisfaction levels.
Before his current role, Gabba led the Food & Beverage team at ITC Grand Central, Mumbai, for five years, during which the hotel solidified its standing in the competitive set. His ability to manage end-to-end processes, support end users, and develop operational staff has been key to achieving performance objectives.
A product of ITC Hotels Hospitality Management Institute, Gabba began his career as a Management Trainee in 2002. After completing the Kitchen Executive Trainee program in 2004, he started as a Junior Sous Chef at Welcomhotel Chennai, managing the award-winning restaurant Peshawri. In 2007, he moved to ITC Grand Central in Mumbai as a Sous Chef in Banquets and later joined the pre-opening team at ITC Gardenia in 2009 as a Senior Sous Chef.
In 2012, Gabba transitioned to Food & Beverage service, starting as Banquet Manager at ITC Windsor in Bangalore. By 2016, he was promoted to Food and Beverage Manager at ITC Grand Central, Mumbai. In September 2021, he was elevated to General Manager at Welcomhotel by ITC Hotels, Devee Grand Bay.
Under Gabba's leadership, the hotel has wholly renovated all its rooms and added two restaurants, Dakshin and the Pan Asian restaurant KAI. The hotel also inaugurated a new banquet hall, Crown, and is renovating its plant and machinery to become one of the first green hotels in Visakhapatnam.
