Holiday River Expeditions Brings Music to the Canyons of Colorado and Utah, Blending Rafting with Live Bands

On May 21-25, 2022 guests will float the wild Yampa River with members of the Bay Area’s pre-eminent string ensemble, the Del Sol Quartet. The harmonies of violin and cello are a sublime complement to nature’s own ongoing concerto of rocks, water and canyon. Sunrise concerts and evening rehearsals with professional musicians will provide a unique addition to the potent magic of the wild Yampa River as nature provides the perfect stage. Local Salt Lake City favorites, The PickPockets, are on tap to bring their energy, earnest hearts and engaging soulfulness to a four-day Gates of Lodore adventure, July 30 – August 2, 2022. Establishing a new tradition in bluegrass music, The Pickpockets were formed in 2018 in Salt Lake City. What began as a weekly jam at the local cidery has now matured into a full-fledged force of nature. In true Holiday go-with-the-flow style, each band will time their performances to fit the overall vibe of the group, the canyon and the river. Each day may include breakfast jamming, a campfire concert or a session at some of our hiking destinations. Trips will also hit the high notes of any Yampa or Lodore Canyon expedition: varied geology, consistent whitewater (including such infamous rapids as Warm Springs, Disaster Falls, Triplet Falls and Hells Half Mile) and magical side hikes.
