Dominic Arel Recognized as General Manager of the Year, Commended at the Middle East Hospitality Excellence Awards 2024

At the heart of Dubai’s glittering Arabian Ranches Golf Resort and Spa, the 10th edition of the Middle East Hospitality Excellence Awards unfolded in grandeur on December 17, 2024.
Organized by the Hozpitality Group, this iconic event celebrated the outstanding accomplishments of the region’s top hospitality professionals. Among the noteworthy recognitions, Dominic Arel, General Manager of Fairmont The Palm, stood out as he received the General Manager of the Year (Commended) award. Presented by Danube Properties, this accolade mirrors Dominic’s dedication, visionary leadership, and significant contributions to the hospitality sector.
Dominic’s illustrious career spans over two decades, marked by a passion for operational excellence and a deep understanding of guest-centric service. His role as General Manager at Fairmont The Palm, which he has held since September 2022, showcases his ability to drive growth and maintain the highest standards of hospitality. Under his leadership, the property has achieved remarkable milestones, reflecting his commitment to elevating guest experiences and fostering a culture of innovation and excellence among his team.
Before his current role, Dominic served as General Manager of Swissôtel Al Ghurair, where he managed the hotel’s transition into one of Dubai’s leading family-friendly destinations. His leadership from 2019 to 2022 was instrumental in enhancing the property’s reputation for impeccable service and creating a welcoming environment for guests. Earlier, he held the position of General Manager at Alwadi Hotel Doha - MGallery from 2016 to 2019, where his strategic initiatives led to the property’s enhanced market presence and operational success.
Dominic’s expertise extends beyond the Middle East, having honed his skills as General Manager of Sofitel Lisbon Liberdade in Portugal from 2013 to 2016. His ability to adapt to diverse markets was further demonstrated during his tenure at Sofitel Dubai Jumeirah Beach as Hotel Manager from 2011 to 2013, where he played a pivotal role in positioning the property as a flagship luxury destination in Dubai.
Educationally, Dominic has consistently invested in advancing his knowledge and expertise. He holds a certificate in Hotel, Motel, and Restaurant Management from ESSEC Business School, where he completed the prestigious International Hospitality Management Program in 2011. Additionally, he earned a certificate in Human Resources from HEC Montréal, showcasing his commitment to understanding the critical role of people management in hospitality.
