British Airways Brings this Year’s Film Award Winners into the Cabin
Launch a channel dedicated to award-winning and nominated films as part of its in-flight entertainment.
Dubai, UAE: 5 March 2019 - To celebrate the recently held 72nd British Academy Film Awards (BAFTAs) and the 91st Academy Awards ceremony (The Oscars), British Airways is launching a channel dedicated to award-winning and nominated films as part of its in-flight entertainment.
The category, named Award Worthy, features films that collectively won eleven BAFTAs and ten Oscars in this year’s awards season, as well as receiving 77 nominations across the two ceremonies. Featured movies include Bohemian Rhapsody, A Star is Born, and If Beale Street Could Talk.
The new awards season channel will allow British Airways customers to indulge in the very best the silver screen has to offer while up in the air.
Complementing the new channel, the airline’s wider in-flight entertainment will be updated regularly, with categories added for major holidays and key calendar events. A ‘Wonder Women’ channel will be available throughout March to celebrate International Women’s Day.
The new channels will join the 1,000 hours of films, top TV shows and audio programmes that customers can enjoy via their personal screen. Alongside a host of new entertainment options, the airline has also begun to invest £6.5 billion in upgrading the customer experience over the next five years, including new aircraft, cabins, catering, and lounges, alongside enhanced WiFi and new routes.
