Dubai, UAE (September 2019): With the Middle East’s biggest gaming festival fast approaching, excitement is building among the gaming community, and gamers haven’t had a chance to catch their breathes with the volume of huge announcements coming every week from Team Insomnia. So far, the ‘Road to Insomnia’ eSports online qualifiers have provided the perfect remedy for impatience when it comes to hardcore gamers who can’t wait until October. Qualifying teams will then battle head to head at the highly anticipated Insomnia Grand Finals of 12 of the region’s biggest game titles and a prize pool of ¼ million dirhams! 

Up until now, more than 470 players have competed online for over 270 hours in the hotly contested online qualifiers. Registrations and the qualifying rounds for DOTA 2, Rainbow 6 Seige, CS: GO 1v1 and CS:GO 5v5 have been completed and are now closed with and Apex Legends and Overwatch online qualifiers still ongoing. 

Registration for the immensely popular Fortnite have also been opened with a whopping 400 plus players registering within the first 24 hours of the announcement. There will be two rounds of the Fortnite qualifiers (duos) on September 20^th and on October 4^th, before the finals at Insomnia Dubai alongside the qualifiers and finals for Fortnite duos when winners compete to win cash prizes of AED33,000 / $9,000 (duo) and AED25,700 / $7,000 (solo). Registrations for the qualifiers for console games FIFA20 and Mortal Kombat 11 are also open online with qualifier dates and location to be revealed soon.

More big news incoming: Insomnia Dubai’s Gaming Quiz will take place from 6pm to 7.30pm on October 19^th at Insomnia Dubai and will be hosted by Catboy & Lorra. Anyone who’s been to one of Catboy & Lorra’s quizzes knows you’re not going to get a boring, sit-down Trivial Pursuits rip-off. And for Insomnia Dubai, the team behind The Dubai Quiz has gone full-on gamer! 

Expect audio, video, mental and physical challenges, to test all areas of your gaming knowledge, plus you’ll be getting creative with a chance to show off your team’s artistic skills, all accompanied by great music throughout. A host of great team and individual prizes will be revealed very soon; teams can be made up of a minimum of 4 people and a maximum of 8.
