Andy Cuthbert, the esteemed General Manager of Jumeirah Creekside Hotel, has recently earned a distinguished position in Hozpitality's Best 30 General Managers in the Middle East power list. This notable recognition, achieved through votes from respected peers and colleagues, underscores his exceptional leadership qualities and tenacious dedication. The Hozpitality Group, known for its commitment to excellence in the hospitality industry, meticulously organizes this prestigious acknowledgment.
With a career spanning over four decades, Andy Cuthbert has emerged as one of Dubai's leading figures in the realm of food and hospitality. Joining the Jumeirah Group in 2000 as the Director of Operations for Jumeirah Hospitality, the Australian-born Cuthbert has played a pivotal role in elevating culinary standards within Dubai's premier luxury hotel company.
Over the years, Cuthbert has held various leadership positions within the company, accumulating extensive experience across diverse facets of the business, from banqueting and catering to resort management. His tenure as the General Manager of Jumeirah Mina A'Salam in June 2016 marked a significant milestone in his career, and he later assumed the role of General Manager at Jumeirah Creekside Hotel in August 2018.
In addition to overseeing the luxurious Jumeirah Creekside Hotel, Cuthbert manages Zero Gravity and Madinat Jumeirah Conference & Events as the General Manager, a position he assumed in 2011. His multifaceted experience and strategic leadership have played a crucial role in the success and growth of these esteemed properties.
Cuthbert's culinary journey began in Melbourne at the age of 16 when he was hired by his cousin to wash dishes in a conference center kitchen. Eager for new challenges, he enrolled in an apprenticeship at TAFE in 1981, honing his culinary craft in restaurants for four years.
The seasoned culinary professional then embarked on an international journey, working in various hotels and restaurants in Melbourne, London, and Dubai. His significant roles include Sous Chef at Hilton International London Gatwick and Executive Chef at Hilton International Dubai World Trade Centre.
In 2000, when Jumeirah Group took over Hilton's trade center location, Cuthbert's expertise in the kitchen did not go unnoticed. He was appointed Director of Operations for Jumeirah Hospitality, beginning his enduring association with the renowned hospitality group. Over the years, he has held key positions, including Chairman and founding member of the Emirates Culinary Guild.
